I remember when my daughter was in 7th grade and she had her boyfriend visiting our home and she came to me while he was in the bathroom and she had his phone- she showed me he had multiple Instagram, discord and Snapchat accounts he made with different identities- one of them had a dialog with someone who it appeared he was having a gay relationship with. 13 year olds doing this! It’s hard enough figuring out one identity at that awkward age let alone multiple identities. Social media is sooo stacked against our kids especially when they find loopholes like this. This kid is in his early twenties now and an absolute mess.
I found a therapist associated with the “Therapy First” network, who managed to talk my daughter off the ledge by presenting her with two full pages of side effects of cross sex hormones. We’re not out of the woods yet, but daughter promised to at least hold off until age 25.
Sure, that’s part of it. The other part is that they are encouraged by all manner of entities- academia, journalism, corporate culture, etc. to engage in these identities that are separatist in nature because they do not correspond with reality and the physical world and its boundaries. Lots and lots of money is perpetually poured into campaigns that coerce young people to think in these terms and why? It’s as simple as it is insidious. Certain powerful interests are incentivized to create a dependent client class of voters that are reliant on authority and subsidization. It’s a tactic to stay in power when all your ideas and rhetoric are stupid and don’t organically appeal to “normal” voters.
There is peace in the hope that this too shall pass-thank you for your reflection filled with truth and hope for this lost generation’s ideology. May it run its course sooner than later! I’m sure parents before us wrestled in prayer for their kids too. Tag we’re it!
Excellent post. However, the "untreated emotional pain" is much more horrific than this phrase suggests. Five years of the "untreated emotional pain" starting at 19 for my son has been what I call negative treatment -- that is, the harmful "trans" meds he has taken has reinforced his delusions and destroyed his physical and mental health. "Untreated" is too benign a descriptor for the heinous "treatment" that actively harms.
I agree. I'm scared that when my daughter wakes from this, she will now have the underlying emotional pain, with the added emotional and physical scars of what she's done to herself. I'm hoping Genspect can keep fighting to support lawsuits, insurance coverage and free medical care to fix our kids. Praying
This is so well said and spot on. All of this identity confusion is rooted in emotional wounds, fitting in etc. my 22 year old son is in that exact place. He’s planning to start HRT due to extreme gender dysphoria. We’ve done everything to try to stop this from happening. I pray he will realize this is not the answer to his difficulties and am certain many more difficulties will come due to trying to live as female. He is high functioning on the spectrum and he thinks he knows the challenges that lie ahead. However, there’s no way he can conceptualize what lies ahead. How will he gain employment which will allow him to truly support himself. So many challenges. Anyone with info about their child being employed would be appreciated.
I pray we will see a global change against this and that our kids dealing with this will get the message that changing identity will not make things better for them.

I would want to confront the male child/young adult with this: the perception of reality is NOT reality. They can imitate and impersonate females all they want - they will NEVER be female. And, of course, they know that deep down. What they are relying on is continued social acceptance and celebration of the act. And they must at least suspect that they can't rely on that forever. Tough spot for anyone to be in. I would spell it out for them. They are ESSENTIALLY and GENETICALLY male. They should accept and celebrate that natural fact. I would also point out that they have been INTENTIONALLY deceived. The gender confusion they were thrown into was never an "accident".
I can't give you accurate info but there was a "new" person ( a man) who has just spoken out about the meds/procedures that are being used to harm children under the guise of "gender affirming care". I just saw him this a.m.....maybe on Genspect? He talks about his personal experience with these medical interventions ...given because his body was not going into puberty on its own. He has a very powerful message for whythis should not be done ...might be something that could help your son to see/hear? Sorry I don't know specifics right now to share. Maybe someone else will see this and share more.

It seems because cameras are everywhere, the internet is forever, and we tried to make kids too safe that we took away some of their freedom to find themselves. Children need to be dangerous sometimes, to test themselves, to be alone, to be able to make mistakes and do dumb things without it being videoed and captured forever. Because of this we chased them into bathrooms where they began to "cut" themselves, dream of being the opposite sex or an animal or anything other than what they truly are, and then we have enablers at every corner, people we trusted encouraging terrible behavior. We assumed "do no harm" and "consent" actually meant what they say they meant. Today, so much is backwards, what used to be wrong is right and as a whole, as a group, the very people we entrusted our children to, actually despise children. So for our children and family, destruction, to the enablers, awards, money and grants. This tsunami of trans destruction has destroyed everything in it's wake, the clean up will be messy and the clean up of all the trash and waste left behind will fall on parents and others who truly love children and want the absolute best for them and are willing to speak that in truth and love. We need to mentally prepare ourselves for this restoration, if not for our children at least for others. We need to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves. The road back from cross sex hormones and surgeries is largely unchartered and from lots of examples out there can be quite violent, not always, but can be, so we all need to tread carefully and wisely.
Yes! This - “….untreated emotional pain…” is so true! I know this is at the root of why my young adult son decided transition is the answer. Loneliness, struggling to fit in, rejection from the girl he said he wanted to marry, the isolation of Covid, the very heavy academic load in university, and a happy but imperfect childhood with well intentioned but imperfect parents, have left him with wounds that need to be tended and healed. But he can’t/won’t see that. Not yet.

You are lucky you are in ID, a conservative state. My in-laws have lived their entire life in the state & in are in healthcare. FIL still thinks this is a thing which is absolutely insane, his daughter (SIL) now says it's a cult after our son cut us off 5 yrs ago. Her son had a classmate/friend who is FTM in elementary school through HS. They are graduating college now. All the best to you.

You might try the Open Therapy Institute or some of the other groups affiliated with PITT. I do not know anyone personally in Colorado. A tip. If you browse Psychology Today you can sort by the people that do not list LGBTQ or any of the Queer categories as sub specialties. That is as far as that rag allows therapists to go.
