It truly is a fad!....and I have a 21 yr old who was captured by this fascination 4-5 yrs ago and still clings to the lies and mantras(we are estranged). Look at BLM....now a blip on the social justice radar since its greed has been exposed. MeToo.....went way too far causing a backlash against women. Greta Thurnberg on climate change...…

Look at BLM....now a blip on the social justice radar since its greed has been exposed. MeToo.....went way too far causing a backlash against women. Greta Thurnberg on climate change......now seen as just another fad (although I do believe that climate change is real and needs to be addressed). Trans.....I now see lots of teens doing the "eye roll" thing. And now there is the "Decolonize Palestine" warriors who know zero history of the areas and religions/governments involved.
And as much as I hate to admit it, the DSA (which used to be a sane and good organization) has been colonized by far left activists in pursuit of $$$$ for their own "pet causes". The centrists on both sides need to reign in the crazy ones and expose the truth before we all can shift back to some kind of normalcy and take care of the priorities.
I'm truly sorry to hear about your child. Maybe I wasn't clear, though. I think this is worse than the average fad. I just meant that the gender ideology was more evil. It is an insidious brainwashing by people that should be all about children's health and safety.
I also think BLM was more than a fad. All the things you mention seem more like a religion or even a cult to me (or an ideology pushed from those making a profit). But, I might be thinking of a more narrow definition of fad. A social contagion, definitely; the incidence of people saying they are trans has risen more than a thousand percent (I think it's 5,000, but I'd have to check my source).
I guess I wouldn't describe these things as a fad. But, then again, I'm thinking of less dangerous things like fads in clothing or hair styles, or toys like hula hoop and beanie babies. All these things are popular for a very short time.
My daughter has been brainwashed by the fanatics on social media and various doctors. She was captured 8 years ago. Fads are short-lived. I guess that is subjective, but almost a decade doesn't seem short to me.
I still hold out hope. I see the tide changing, but I think it's going to take a while yet. I hope you have found a way to live a full life in spite of your estrangement. I know it leaves a hole in your heart, but we have to have a life when our children come home.
