A large 2025 study from the US has received relatively little attention despite analysing long-term data from over 107,000 medically transitioned people.
Watching that video interview just made me tear up some and feel such anger and hopelessness for Trans people and their families. PITT parents largely knew all the data was wrong and yes it was never made public, anything that went against Trans was banned, people were banned, lost jobs, etc... like Covid if they did not get the jab/agree with Trans. Yes, do no harm, and so much was thrown out the window and trampled on to rush as many people into Trans as possible, still happens today. As if living such a massive lie about yourself will ever amount to anything enlightening is such a blasphemy. Trans was pushed so hard because almost everyone was so excited about a new sexual fetish that porn fueled sick perverted men could push onto all of society is absolutely sick. Truly one of the worst mental and sexual illnesses ever pushed onto society. My heart is broken again for all of this madness and the destruction it has done. All of it was totally unneeded had more people, like during covid, said NO!!!!!!!!!! That video of that young man is soul crushing! Affirmation Care destroyed him! Sick Demonic Monsters did this to him! I am so angry, ugh!
Thank for taking the time to compile this well-organized and balanced summary. Your writing and logic are clear and you have articulated the facts so simply, I find it hard to imagine how they can be refuted. I want to send this to the therapists, psychologists, primary care doctors, and the gender clinic who led my daughter down the path to medicalization, despite her history of depression, anxiety, and childhood trauma. While they are blithely living their lives, my husband and I are working to help her dig out of the wreckage and find the will to keep living. Add one more point to the “poor outcomes” tally.
So sad right? Where are all of the folks who not only affirmed my daughter but taught her that her parents weren’t safe and to lie to them during high school? Not around. They’re not the ones left picking up the pieces.
Thank you, Rachel Hannam, for your article and for sharing the study by Lewis, JE, et al. (2025).
I would like to emphasize one point:
“Researchers rarely know why people drop out or what their long-term outcomes were.”
They drop out, as you point out, when choice-supportive bias is no longer enough and reality and anger take over.
Furthermore, and as you have also noted, there is data concealment: “adult gender clinics in the UK have refused to share data with researchers (Cass, 2024).”
So we can gain a more accurate understanding of dissatisfaction and dropout if we take these factors into account and if we adhere to the premise that self-reported satisfaction surveys have far less power than objective mental health outcomes based on actual clinical diagnoses recorded in medical records.
And to answer your question about how surgeons who perform female genital mutilation sleep at night?
I think the answer, in part, is explained by this:
Thank you for clarifying the un-asked and un-answered questions. I was saddened by not surprised by the results of the Lewis study; "Transgender individuals face heightened psychological distress, including depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation, partly due to stigma and lack of gender affirmation...Conclusion: Gender-affirming surgery, while beneficial in affirming gender identity, is associated with increased risk of mental health issues, underscoring the need for ongoing, gender-sensitive mental health support for transgender individuals' post-surgery." They continue to spout the same old lies that we've all heard before - mental illness is caused by gender confusion/dysphoria instead of the fact that gender confusion is caused by mental illness. And their mental state is the fault of non-acceptance by society.
IMHO, that the study has not received attention is a good thing. I don't have time to follow the rabbit trail in depth, but a quick check on three of the authors of the study reveal a group of researchers at UT Medicine Galveston, none with medical degrees and all with a pro-trans bias. That is no surprise either since UTMG has long been a hot spot for trans experimentation with the first surgery done in 1966. Another study by some of the same people was on the disparity of top and bottom surgery for blacks. Let's throw some claims of racial discrimination into the trans can of worms, too.
Finally a psychologist with common sense. I truly do not understand the delay in law writing to protect these vulnerable individuals.
I have not met a trans identifying individual that does not have ‘failure to launch’ problems. Affirmation by teachers and counselors have 100% caused my daughter to suffer from living a full life.
She was placed on hormones after 1 appointment and 1 blood test by planned parenthood who I’m sure never bothered to check into her mental health history.
What I also find strange is the lack of investigation into why these kids suddenly wake up one day and declare they are trans. Doctors and teachers just treat them with ‘kindness’-no questions asked.
An excellent essay. Thank you. Sincerely, Frederick

The lies that you can become the opposite sex have to stop. Men will never carry eggs and women will never carry sperm.
Really don’t know how the discussion goes further than that.
You can take all of the cross sex drugs, remove and add body parts, but never will you be the opposite sex.
Folks need to learn how to love what they’ve got.
With Texas’ recent law changes I’m surprised the university is allowed to continue research as such.

Thank you for this extensive and well written review full of information
