Thanks! This is really helpful.

And just a reminder, those numbers are a significant undercount, not including people who paid out of pocket because their insurance didn't'cover it, and people whose doctors mis-coded a claim in order to get them coverage.

Read the whistleblower accounts from the gender clinics at St. Louis Children's and Texas Children's and you'll see that doctors regularly engage in insurance claim billing code shenanigans.

Score one for MAHA!

"Moderna, Pfizer Stocks Fall After Reports of RFK Jr. Nomination"

"Shares of vaccine-makers fell after reports that Donald Trump is expected to nominate vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

Shares of Moderna (MRNA) and Pfizer dropped almost immediately after the initial report by Politico, then rebounded slightly. As of Thursday’s market close, Moderna’s stock fell 5.6% and Pfizer (PFE) was down 2.6%.

“We’re not going to take vaccines away from anybody,” Kennedy said in an interview following Trump’s victory.

Kennedy has promised sweeping changes to food and drug regulation and government-funded scientific research, in recent days saying the Food and Drug Administration’s entire nutrition department needed to be eliminated and warning the agency’s employees to “pack your bags.”

Chronicling the damage is fine, but it's time to consider a different kind of database. We need a list of every doctor who has ever mutilated a teenager; every social worker who has ever affirmed a kid into hormones; every HR administrator who has pronouns in her bio; every elementary school teacher who gleefully posted the gender unicorn on the wall. If you're on this list, you should never work professionally again. Scrub floors or dig ditches for the rest of your life, I don't care, but you're a threat to civilization and must be treated accordingly. In earlier times, we would have exiled or executed you, however we civilized moderns should stop personal bankruptcy and professional ruin.

I respect that many here are likely very torn about the election result, but regardless of how you voted, it is undeniable that the outcome of last Tuesday makes it possible, if we push really hard, that we could not only curtail much of the cult's power but actually enact some justice for its many victims.

These people have likely already started scrubbing their Twitter history and public bios. Fortunately, courtesy Internet Archive, things published online never die.

Encouraging news but this bit of yours is a big part of the problem:

"... underwent sex change treatments ... "

Absolutely no one changes sex. Using it without 24 pt. flashing neon scare quotes just opens the door to "if someone wants to change their sex then why shouldn't they be allowed to do so? No harm, no foul."

A more egregious and odious euphemism is scarcely imaginable -- on par with "ethnic cleansing" for "genocide". What is actually lurking under the hood is "sterilization and castration", is the Big Lie that such "sex changes" are even biologically possible.

Expand full comment
Eleganta's avatar

To be fair, they do say "underwent treatments." They do not say "changed sex."

Expand full comment
Steersman's avatar

True. And I doubt that many of the hospitals and clinics doing those surgeries are describing them as "sex changes". But I'm not sure what else "sex change treatments" can mean except those to change a person's sex. It's been fairly common for the last seventy-odd years -- ever since Christine Jorgensen -- to use that term; a rather odious euphemism at best:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_Jorgensen

"Christine Jorgensen: 60 years of sex change ops": https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-20544095

More recently, transwoman Walter Heyer in USA Today:

Heyer: "I sought out the top gender specialist at the time, Dr. Paul Walker, who had co-authored the 1979 standards of care for transgender health. He diagnosed me with gender identity disorder (now gender dysphoria) and recommended cross-sex hormones and sex change genital surgery. He told me that the childhood events were not related to my current gender distress, and that sex change was the only solution."

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/voices/2019/02/11/transgender-debate-transitioning-sex-gender-column/1894076002/

Whole bunch of "doctors" have been criminally negligent in peddling the rather demented idea that such changes are even possible. At best they've been pandering to the delusional. But the "Do No Harm" people -- and PITT themselves -- are contributing to the problem just by suggesting they are possible.

From one of the many articles I ran across in Googling "sex change":

"Sex 'reassignment' doesn’t work. It’s impossible to 'reassign' someone’s sex physically, and attempting to do so doesn’t produce good outcomes psychosocially. ....

Dr. Paul McHugh, the university distinguished service professor of psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, explains:

Transgendered men do not become women, nor do transgendered women become men. All (including Bruce Jenner) become feminized men or masculinized women, counterfeits or impersonators of the sex with which they ‘identify.’ In that lies their problematic future."

https://www.heritage.org/gender/commentary/sex-reassignment-doesnt-work-here-the-evidence

Expand full comment
Brian Villanueva's avatar

Too many people don't get this, especially here on PITT. They think passing laws to make sure teen girls can't slice their boobs off will fix everything. It won't. It certainly is a good idea, but the problem goes MUCH deeper.

If terms as basic as "man" and "woman" don't refer to innate attributes but are instead linguistic categories that one can claim membership in either by fiat or by making cosmetic changes to one's body, no words are safe. Lose the real distinction between "male" and "female" and you will eventually lose the distinction between "human", "animal", and "machine" as well. And if that doesn't scare the crap out of you, you haven't thought it through -- the most murderous ideologies of the 20th century were all built around altering the definition of "human" to exclude some people.

This is postmodernism 101. It's the reason the progressives are willing to die on the "teen trannie" hill. Because it's about far more than teen trannies.

Amen to that. Bingo -- give the man a kewpie doll. 👍👌🙂

But to underline your points, y'all might have some interest in an interview by Substacker Helen Dale of Helen Joyce and Maya Forstater. Of particular note therein is the view by the Helens that transgenderism is a "civilization threatening/ending movement":

https://lawliberty.org/podcast/when-does-sex-matter/

Not sure if that isn't hyperbole or understatement though I tend to the latter. Something that evolutionary psychologist Paula Wright agrees with me on -- worth following her. And for that reason alone though many others. 🙂

But in the same vein, another Substack post at the somewhat ironically titled "The TransAtlantic", intentional or not:

"'Nullius in Verba' - Identity Ideology vs. the Scientific Disposition: The Dangers of Self-ID": https://thetransatlantic.substack.com/p/self-id-or-nullius-in-verba-between?utm_medium=web&triedRedirect=true

Finally, Benjamin Ryan's kick at the same kitty:

"How An Inability to Clearly Define ‘Sex’ vs. ‘Gender’ Has Left Democrats In a Mess

Language matters. By insisting there’s no difference between “sex” and “gender” and that sex is “assigned at birth,” progressives have alienated many people from the transgender cause." https://benryan.substack.com/p/how-an-inability-to-clearly-define?utm_medium=reader2&triedRedirect=true

Though there are a few flaws in his argument and those of his commenters, one of whom is a doctor and who should know better. Scientific illiteracy is ubiquitous and a major contributor.

Thanks for the Witherspoon article -- I have several of their articles bookmarked though not on my smartphone.

But I tend to the view that "Essentialism has been controversial from its beginning." : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essentialism

Kind of think reification is part of the problem, a case of mistaking the map for the territory. Seems the postmodernists have something of a point -- all of our categories are "socially constructed". Moses didn't bring the First Dictionary down from Mt. Sinai on tablets A through Z so none of our definitions qualify as gospel truth. But some are more useful than others, more able to encompass various "essences": the ONLY "essence" to "teenager" is being 13 to 19.

You might have some interest in my comments, as Tom Bombadil, over on Why Evolution Is True, though you might balk at the concept ... 😉🙂:

To me, that's what makes postmodernism so dangerous. Like Marx, the problems Foucault identifies are real: language is tweaked to serve the powerful; law is made to benefit the ruling class; history IS written by the victors. But, again like Marx, his solutions are terrible. Because of man's sinful nature (you might use different language, but I suspect express a similar idea), the only way to eradicate all human oppression is to eradicate our humanity.

Sure. But fire is dangerous too -- I doubt you're suggesting we go back to living in caves without its benefits. No doubt many people misuse or misunderstand the technology and the tools but that only argues in favour of education. That some people use them only to "serve the powerful" says nothing against their use to improve the general lot of humanity -- "where there is no vision the people perish".

Transhumanism is definitely part of it:

"The Billionaire Family Pushing Synthetic Sex Identities (SSI)

The wealthy, powerful, and sometimes very weird Pritzker cousins have set their sights on a new God-like goal: using gender ideology to remake human biology"

https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/billionaire-family-pushing-synthetic-sex-identities-ssi-pritzkers

"The current chair, Aaron Devor, founded an annual conference called Moving Trans History Forward, whose keynote speaker in 2016 was the renowned transhumanist, Martine Rothblatt, who was mentored by the transhumanist Ray Kurzweil of Google. Rothblatt lectured there on the value of creating an organization such as WPATH to serve “tech transgenders” in the cultivation of “tech transhumanists.” (Rothblatt’s ideology of disembodiment and technological religion seems to be having nearly as much influence on American culture as Sirius satellite radio, which Rothblatt co-founded.) Rothblatt is an integral presence at Out Leadership, a business networking arm of the LGBTQ+ movement, and appears to believe that “we are making God as we are implementing technology that is ever more all-knowing, ever-present, all-powerful, and beneficent.”"

In the end, all of this stuff is theological (in the metaphysical sense, not necessarily the Christian one). Elise Bohan says humans are "ape brained meat sacks". If Elise is correct, there is absolutely no basis to prevent any human being from modifying his/her/xis "meat sack" in any way he/she/xir desires.

There's really no escape from this. Either human nature/essence/the soul exists or man has no more moral worth than a random combinations of chemicals.

Not without overturning postmodernism, J.S. Mill, and maybe even the Enlightenment itself. The common thread between these is that they are liberationist and each is a logical extension of its predecessor. It's not a stretch to say that the same impulse that freed a young black woman from the unjust constraints of slavery in 1850-1870, also freed her granddaughter from the unjust constraints of sex discrimination in 1920-1960, and is freeing HER granddaughter from the unjust constraints of biology today.

That's part of what makes this so hard to fight. Even those who recognize the depth of the problem (like Sohrab Amari or Patrick Deneen or Mary Harrington or Camille Paglia) are reluctant to dig deep enough lest they risk destroying the entire philosophical root of modern civilization. I'll be honest; I share that reluctance, if for no other reason than I have Thomas Hobbes in the back of my head.

Jordan Peterson is one of those I think most likely to find a solution to this. One of his best brief discussions of postmodernism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnpB49iP5uU Who would have thought an exiled Canadian shrink might provide a roadmap for how to get us out of this.

It’s really great to see both of these activities. I echo the sentiments of the comment below— is it possible to look at data from college clinics, or planned parenthood? My guess is that the numbers of kids who transition in college and after is at least as large and likely larger than the population of minors. My story is one of thousands whose kid got sucked in in college and has now been estranged from us for years. Thank you to this org for anything they can do to help.

Yes - same story here, although not estranged. I am so sorry, Ann. And regarding Planned Parenthood (which I have supported historically for decades for care that has helped hundreds of thousands who need birth control and cancer screenings - they literally saved my life 2 1/2 decades ago), under the informed consent model they will now provide hormones for 16 year olds without parental knowledge. I believe the age is 15 in Oregon. With no background check and little - if any - follow up medical care. I am desperate to keep the the attachment with my kid strong throughout this mess. Jason, my two cents advice is to still steer them toward the path that aligns with their aptitude and interests. Skipping college is not a foolproof solution to avoid the woke mind virus. I know young men working in solidly blue color mostly male trades who are completely captured and identify as trans. I see young farmers at our local market, beautiful young women but flat-chested and with scars; pride flag at their stand. If you are here , I assume you are preparing your sons' minds and teaching them critical thinking. They shouldn't be giving up on their career interests because the universities are temporarily occupied by the woke left. Without new bright unwoke people our universities are truly doomed. (Of course if they are not interested in college , that's perfectly fine as well).

I hear you. I still think college is important and valuable for many kids, and many kids are just much more resilient to insanity than others (e.g. our older son). Also, if kids are more on the STEM side, they get far less exposure to courses with a heavy indoctrination component. Having said that, if I were looking today, I’d generally avoid Ivy League and many liberal arts schools. It seems schools in the south and Midwest may be better— or at least they are large enough that a kid can find a relatively safe ‘bubble’ within them. I have a nephew who went to NCSU (in STEM)) who really didn’t see much of this stuff (amazingly)— it just wasn’t ’in the air’. I think you can tell a lot by visiting campus and asking your student tour guide and other random students a few questions to get an inside view. Trans ideology got a lot of (negative) exposure during the election, so I’m fervently hoping we’ve seen ‘peak trans’. Such an abomination! Good luck, may your kids have a safe journey!

I love these fact-based articles on PITT. Thank you, author!

We often refer to trans as a cult that captures kids. But the entire Left on the political spectrum also acts like a cult by cancelling anyone who dares speak truth. The time has come to grow steel in our spines and speak up.

I have a very liberal friend from Seattle. She doesn’t have kids but does have SEVEN+ friends who have trans kids. I told her that Planned Parenthood was the largest facilitator of cross sex hormones to youth. She claimed that was “rightwing propaganda.” It took me 30 seconds to show her proof on Planned Parenthood’s website.

A few months later I went off on Imane Khalif, the person who won the women’s Olympic Gold Medal in boxing. I stated that Khalif has internal testicles, a micro penis, no uterus, male levels of testosterone AND XY chromosomes. My friend basically tried to “shame” me with: “How can you focus on this when women in {insert despotic Middle East country} lack {insert basic human right.}” I kept my cool and said that I believe men who punch women deserve jail time, not gold medals.

A month or two later I saw my friend again. This time SHE made some comments critical of gender insanity. Clearly I had gotten through even though we had some very uncomfortable moments along the way.

Parents, I urge you to question the cult publicly. Just bring up one little irrefutable tidbit during the usual cultlike discussions that happen in blue social circles. Once you provide some proof to people they’ve been lied to, they’ll sometimes start to wonder what other lies they’ve been told.

For me, every time I get sound, statistical data like what’s in this article, I text it to myself so I can easily access it when these conversations occur.

In America we now have an administration (that you’re free to hate for other reasons if you choose) that is 100% morally clear that gender affirming care for kids, secret transitions at school and men/women in each others sports and locker rooms must end. The new POTUS’ most successful campaign ad was one showing how his competitor favored taxpayer funds to be used for prisoner sex change operations. He won way more support in deep blue states (CA and NY) than last election. Most people, of any political stripe, agree with us that this gender insanity must end. Now is the time to speak up.

A month after his 19th birthday, my son was prescribed poison pills on his first visit to the Planned Parenthood walkable from his college campus. Your point is a good one and it was happening long before 2019. College campuses have been a playground for the orchestrators to help launch this industry. By 2016 the college application used by millions of students to apply to college (the Common App) had been changed to include "gender identity." Behind things like this are nefarious happenings that no one talks about. But today, the US via it's color revolution has managed to grow a population of young adults catering to the nonsense in large part due to the early coverage of cross sex hormones and even surgeries via college health plans as well as pronoun requirements, the coddling of 'identities,' etc. An MTF transactivist has access to the Common Ap data.
