It was all or nothing. He insisted we call him our daughter, and use his chosen name and pronouns and we refused to do so. Now 2 years later he is gone. He cut everyone off, not just me and his father, and it's so sad because not everyone in the family refused his demands. I just pray every day he is ok. You sound like a very loving dad and you are very lucky.
I hope that over time she realizes her mistake here. However, I also I realize that she might eventually take the drugs and get surgery. She might become less agreeable. Might insist on things like her boy name and pronouns. I know we are not out of danger. I could still lose her but for now, I am making the best of a bad situation.
