I think you are correct that many young trans people are seduced by the attention as well as the business aspect, and they are young enough to not have enough perspective to care about the harm they are doing to themselves and the harm they are encouraging others to participate in.

I wanted to like your post, Mark, but I object to calling these kids "young trans people" as if they really do have an inner gendered soul or something. I feel that any such language supports the now so prevalent and unquestioned belief system we are trying to fight. Maybe "confused young people" or trans "identified young people" please? I totally agree that they are too young to have any perspective. Have you seen this Steve Levine paper?
