Great article, but a bit discouraging to see the 2021 date on this. The points that are made so well in the article can barely be spoken out loud in the last quarter of 2025.

Why is gender given its own rules?

"Delving into this topic, it would appear that we are mired in trans ideology. The information that we come across in daily life, and the information that we find when we search is predominantly of one persuasion. Expressing the view that sex is based on biology and is immutable, that nobody is born in the wrong body, and that women have a right to single sex spaces and sports, has become controversial. As a result, many people keep quiet, and so the ideology beds in further.

Does this sound like a cult to you?

Again, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it just may be a duck."

I agree with those who say that the gender ideology is a cultic style religion, and that it is specifically the religion of the social justice fundamentalists. One of the unique features of this cult is that it refuses to name itself, so we have to come up its names on our own. I think this is part of their worldview, that whatever they believe is simply Truth and needs no further names. When the gender ideologues assign names, like "cisgender," their purpose is to de-normalize, marginalize, and devalue the identity of women. Since they use names in this hostile, aggressive manner, they undoubtedly assume that the rest of us will do the same to them. And in my case they are correct, because I have no nice names for anyone involved in their movement.

Excellent! I agree with you and love the analogy you used. If everyone would have just taken a step back and looked at the big picture with common sense, we might have had a different outcome to the trans-ideology crisis. But because people in authority changed the “rules” to let these delusional kids have their own way, we now have a regrettable catastrophe world wide which was preventable. What developed is a terrible medical scandal that is allowing mentally confused children to self-diagnose themselves and their diagnosis is supported and flaunted! History will look back on this time period with horror and shock and I hope there will be many stories of accountability and prison time served.

Many authority figures have put kids in charge of pretty much everything. That is why so many young people have behavior problems. So much of this appears to be about the authority figures having their own issues with authority, which they act out vicariously through the children they are charged with guiding.

while the move to change 'gender' in children is being pushed and tolerated as 'progressive', as 'human rights'....it is far from that. On an everyday scale parents will be totally concerned and worried as to their child getting involved in this cult, however, this is part of a much larger agenda that is evil. In short, it is about the elimination of male and female and to bring about androgyny. It is about getting to the children for ultimate control for a future agenda of elimination of goodness, creation, innocence and all those made in the image of God.

"We protect children and teenagers from the potential consequences of their own immature decisions. We have threshold ages for cigarette-smoking, alcohol consumption and tattoos ranging from age 18 to 21."

True, but I have come to the view that we will never get anywhere if we merely debate what the "correct age" is for wrong sex hormones and amputation of healthy body parts. It's a losing battle.

Human medical experimentation is not OK. Period. Let the few middle aged sexually deviant men who are determined go to Brazil as they once did. "GAC" is not "care" and must fully end in America.

"However, there are no reliable studies proving that these serious medical treatments actually decrease the suicide rate or mental health problems of those suffering from gender dysphoria."

Right. And, there is no way in which they can correctly be termed "treatments".

"We are ignoring the value society places on a healthy human body." YES

That is medicine - not harming the healthy body for ideology and profit.

I can't fathom how we got here either. Everything about transgenderism seems to fly in the face of logic. Somehow, trans activists have managed to convince society -- liberals especially -- that being trans is such a serious and painful thing that children must be allowed to transition immediately. It isn't true. Children are already accustomed to waiting until adulthood to make adult choices, and this is just one more adult choice.

Years ago, at a time when the Washington Post had a more rational editorial policy, they printed an article by a man who told his story as a child. As a child, he wanted to wear dresses. He was an only child, and his mother allowed him to do that, but only at home. (She didn't want him getting beat up out in public.) This progressive mother even lost her boyfriend, who disapproved of how she was raising her son. Well, after years of wearing dresses at home, his feelings suddenly normalize (probably with the inset of puberty, but I don't know for sure), and he started wearing boys' clothes.

The present uproar over transgenderism has been brought to us by transgender activists, and I see them as directly responsible. They spread their poisonous idea that choosing to be trans is the "right" of anyone, including children -- a message which children have accepted loud and clear. They spread the poisonous idea that it is so painful that people, including children, must be allowed to transition immediately.

If we lived in a rational society, it would be illegal all across the country for any child to be given puberty blockers or cross-gender hormones. Children would be told that "transitioning" is one of those adult rights that they must wait until they are adults to do.

I actually don't think it ought to be a "choice" for anyone in America. Doctors should not harm people. AGP sexually deviant men needed social cover and they wanted their "sex change" bills covered. This required convincing society that children are born with an innate "gender identity" and they would kill themselves without "GAC". Now, it is a crazy profitable field:

https://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/us-sex-reassignment-surgery-market

Of course there are the merely confused: "The transgendered suffer a disorder of "assumption" like those in other disorders familiar to psychiatrists. With the transgendered, the disordered assumption is that the individual differs from what seems given in nature—namely one's maleness or femaleness. Other kinds of disordered assumptions are held by those who suffer from anorexia and bulimia nervosa, where the assumption that departs from physical reality is the belief by the dangerously thin that they are overweight."

Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist in chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital

https://couragerc.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/TransgenderSurgery.pdf

And medicine has always had the potential to become corrupt:

"Medical doctors in the most technically and ethically advanced society on earth were imprisoned or hanged for performing experimental procedures on human subjects without their informed consent—consent that the docs knew they needed. Think about that." https://www.pittparents.com/p/echoes-of-eugenics-what-the-doctors?utm_source=publication-search

I agree that even with adults, no one should be able to self-affirm -- or, at least, when they do, the rest of us are free to have our own opinions. But people have rights. We all know about people who have gotten 40 surgical procedures to the point where they no longer look like human beings -- you know, people whose lifelong quest is to look like a Barbie doll. Insofar as controlling the behavior of adults is concerned, the farthest I can go is to say that those demented people who want to cut off their legs or arms should not be able to do so. But if you believe you feel like the opposite sex, getting cosmetic surgery to change the appearance of your body should be your right.

Now, I've gotten in trouble on this Substack before by talking about my belief in reincarnation, but I'll broach that topic one more time. I believe that many children have "spill-over" memories from previous lives when they were the opposite gender. Since most of them will outgrow those memories/feelings, I agree it shouldn't be legal for children to get any kind of cross-gender treatments. But adults can ruin their bodies as much as they want to -- provided that the rest of us are not footing the bill.

I am going to disagree with you.

People have rights. But, if I went to the doctor and requested a powerful drug I felt like having he would not just give it to me. And, if I asked to have my hand cut off he wouldn't refer me to a surgeon. He would refer me to a shrink who would not simply affirm my feelings but try to get to the bottom of the desire....

Plus, as long as the "gender affirming care" medical machine exists it will just need more and more confused people to feed it.

And, then there is the fact that an entire generation has grown up on a cult like ideology promoted in the school system so that they are primed for this "medical cure" at young adult age.

We should not have barbaric medical practices in the US. And, GAC makes all sorts of promises with pseudo scientific studies without the harms on full display. The young are told it's just like all those risks you see on the Advil bottle. That should be investigated by the FDA or something. None of the GAC stuff is approved. A bunch of doctors and "scientists" should be in trouble. Burn it all down (figuratively speaking).

Actually, we agree more than we disagree. I agree with most of what you said, including the proper role of the medical system, and including the proper role of the education system. My contention is simply that adults have a right to mess up their lives if they so choose.

For me, reincarnation factors in because some of us live so many lives that we can spare some of them to work through mistakes. That's the gift of God: endless new beginnings. We stop reincarnating when we have nothing more to learn from it (having learned or not learned what it is trying to teach us) and then we take our place in the afterlife.

Maybe, but doctors in the United States should not be allowed to perform medical experiments on human subjects and promote it as "care", claiming that it is "life saving" and minimizing the tremendous downsides.

You probably don't have a kid who has crossed the line of 18 after getting indoctrinated with gender.

"We celebrate the natural body and we make clear that narrow beauty standards are harmful. We say there is no one hair-type, skin-type or body-shape that is beautiful, and we encourage people to be comfortable in the skin they are born in, and appreciate their natural bodies in all respects. Yet, when it comes to the sexual characteristics of the body, as soon as someone says they don’t want to have them, we encourage people to cut off the parts they don’t like and chemically alter various bodily characteristics. We do this in the name of “gender expression." - WELL SAID!

Gender is treated like the special child because a small but vocal group of people bullied the rest of the world and got every institution in Western society to go along with it. It might be the biggest con that's ever been pulled off in the world, and one where its victims have paid a very high price.

Regarding the "small but vocal group of people" who " bullied the rest of the world and got every institution in Western society to go along with it" - I saw this on Sex Reality Bites:

“One puzzle has always troubled Blanchard: why did autogynephilic activists concern themselves with children—the group most likely to mobilize opposition? His hypothesis:

hiding autogynephilia required promoting innate gender identity. And if it’s innate, there must be trans children to prove it’s not sexual deviance. This messaging—pushed through schools across North America, media, and books like I Am Jazz—may have triggered what researcher Lisa Littman termed rapid-onset gender dysphoria

Jazz and his mother have effectively influenced a lot of people to view his transition as a wonderful thing. His mother's facilitation of his transition is viewed as a model for how to treat a young child who exhibits behaviors that are culturally associated with the other sex. I am not clear as to whether Jazz exhibited highly feminine behaviors as a child before his mother started encouraging him to act that way, however. Anyway, people occasionally tell me how much they admire her way of dealing with Jazz, and they fully embrace the belief that he has "become who he really is" by "transitioning."

I am glad you said this. I completely agree with Beeswax. This point needs to be made whenever someone says that “most of the kids who are transitioned would have grown up to be gay.” First of all, we don’t know how they would have grown up if they never had a chance to do it. But secondly, Beeswax is correct; claiming to be same sex attracted or as the kids say, “queer” is just another fashionable thing to claim in the liberal youth culture. I think the girls are more likely than the boys to actually try out same sex romances, but as they get farther into their twenties their innate heterosexuality takes over. Some of them feel pretty embarrassed and afraid of peer disapproval when this happens. The freedom they seek becomes just another straitjacket, due to the (fake) rejection of “heteronormativity” in their peer culture.

Kids should be able to explore their sexuality without taking any phase of their development too seriously. Ultimately, biology will win out, and the gender ideologies attempts to defeat it will fail.

According to Dr. Lisa Littman in early 2019, about half of them are/were socially awkward gifted high school kids:

"Results

Baseline characteristics

Baseline characteristics (Table 1) included that the vast majority of parents favored gay and lesbian couples’ right to legally marry (85.9%) and believed that transgender individuals deserve the same rights and protections as other individuals in their country (88.2%). Along with the sudden or rapid onset of gender dysphoria, the AYAs belonged to a friend group where one or multiple friends became gender dysphoric and came out as transgender during a similar time as they did (21.5%), exhibited an increase in their social media/internet use (19.9%), both (45.3%), neither (5.1%), and don’t know (8.2%) (Table 2). For comparisons, the first three categories will be combined and called “social influence” (86.7%) and the last two combined as “no social influence” (13.3%). Nearly half (47.4%) of the AYAs had been formally diagnosed as academically gifted, 4.3% had a learning disability, 10.7% were both gifted and learning disabled, and 37.5% were neither. Sexual orientation as expressed by the AYA prior to transgender-identification is listed separately for natal females and for natal males (Table 2). Overall, 41% of the AYAs expressed a non-heterosexual sexual orientation prior to disclosing a transgender-identification.

It is important to note that none of the AYAs described in this study would have met diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria in childhood (Table 3). In fact, the vast majority (80.4%) had zero indicators from the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for childhood gender dysphoria with 12.2% possessing one indicator, 3.5% with two indicators, and 2.4% with three indicators. Breaking down these results, for readily observable indicators (A2-6), 83.5% of AYAs had zero indicators, 10.2% had one indicator, 3.9% had two indicators, and 1.2% had three indicators. For the desire/dislike indicators (A1, A7, A8), which a parent would have knowledge of if the child expressed them verbally, but might be unaware if a child did not, 95.7% had zero indicators and 3.5% had one indicator. Parents responded to the question about which, if any, of the indicators of the DSM criteria for adolescent and adult gender dysphoria their child was experiencing currently. The average number of positive current indicators was 3.5 (range 0–6) and 83.2% of the AYA sample was currently experiencing two or more indicators. Thus, while the focal AYAs did not experience childhood gender dysphoria, the majority of those who were the focus of this study were indeed gender dysphoric at the time of the survey completion."

His mother is a terrible person who likely did it for the attention and the money. "Jazz" complained about having to put the rings in his wound all the time and his mother is on video getting mad at him about it.

But, what of the doctors like "Marci" Bowers and the documentary producers who celebrated this child abuse? "Jazz" is pretty much a stage name, by the way. He was born Jaron Bloshinsky. In his case I assume he would have grown up to be gay but loads of kids are not even gay or lesbian at all. "Trans" says you do not have to be!

Beeswax wrote this comment on a prior article and I thought it was very good:

""Most of their children all claim to be some type of queer, but they are heterosexual."

Fifty years ago, "queer" was a common slur against gay men and lesbians. It literally meant "homosexual." If the author hasn't updated her definitions in a while, it's natural that she might be confused.

But over the past half-century, left-wing gay academics contributed Queer Theory to the various critical theories of identity politics. Now "queer" and "queering" refer not to homosexuality per se, but to acting in ways that subvert and dismantle the foundational norms of society, specifically with respect to biological sex, sexual identity and sexual practices. This ideology has filtered down to the public schools and the medical profession, of course, and has the blessings of the Democratic party, which benefits financially from Queer donors such as the Human Rights Campaign and the Pritzker family. Times have changed."

"Most of the children claim to be some type of queer." When your five year-old comes home from kindergarten and tells you that even though he has a penis, maybe he's a girl, you're living in the Queer Zone."
