As someone who was diagnosed with five mental illnesses, I know a little about the subject. I know that with proper medication and extensive Cognitive Behavior Therapy, we can live happy, healthy lives. CBT therapy is critical because it helps correct thoughts about ourselves.

Example: I called myself STUPID for dropping stuff. I now say, God gave me brains and beauty; so He figured I could accept a serious lack of coordination.

Example 2: I like doing guy stuff so I must be a guy. Now I say, God gave me tremendous creativity and mechanical aptitude; so I really enjoy working with power tools and building stuff.

Reframing the thoughts that we tell ourselves makes an incredible difference in how happy we are.
