We parents often find ourselves praying to a higher power or, for those of us that do not subscribe to formal religions, we hope to find strength within ourselves.
We hope and pray for the strength to withstand the ideological capture of our societies, that we might maintain enough sanity and composure to help guide our confused children back to a mentally and physically safe path, and for the fortitude to hold fast against tremendous peer and cultural pressure, for our children’s sake, and for all children’s sake.
This poem, written by a parent, speaks to the inner thoughts of all parents, religious and non-religious alike.
Dear God,
Thank you for choosing me to be the parent of this child whom you created perfectly in the womb.
I stand in awe at the Divine opportunity to see the unconditional nature of Your love, in and through me towards my child.
Bless us as we stand strong against the onslaught of ideas and ideologies that threaten to destroy my child by telling him/her that he/she needs to change in order to be at peace or be accepted.
Help us to be at peace as we stand firm in Your truth about who my child is and has always been, perfectly created by You.
Give us courage as we navigate this very difficult path of confusion and give us patience as we witness how Your love and our love will rescue our child from the confusion of questioning who he/she really is.
Help us to trust Your process and hold tight in community for all who are called to overcome this time of confusion and pressure from all sides.
Help us to be your loyal children as we stand for truth in love.
Help us to be fearless allies for our child and for all children, even those who have bought into the lies of a world that tells them that their bodies are “wrong” and they must change to be their authentic selves.
Today we are blessed to have you by our sides as you show us how to practice unconditional love for our children and to help them through this confusing time in their lives.
Amen.
Beautiful! Our children are perfectly created - only in a society where we commodify everything, nature and our bodies, would we consider a course of action to "correct" the body to match an idea of "gender."
Beautiful and exactly what I needed today. Thank you 🙏 ❤️
