I personally met with my Republican state legislators (house and Senate)on this issue in my state. They are both Christians. They both also met with detransitioners and sponsored legislation to stop child medicalization in our state even as Democrats vigorously fought against it, of course because Democrats are beholden to gender ideology. The legislation passed, was signed by our Governor and was also upheld by the courts. It's done here in our state and now several gender clinics have announced they are shutting down.
It is a wonderful opportunity to have a strong alliance of people who are against gender ideology. That alliance can be formed without religion. Making it about religion discredits the cause as a whole.
Why? Practicing Christians, Muslims and Orthodox Jews are all against gender ideology. If the atheist left that are against gender ideology would get over it's distaste and fear of religion the coalition would be very powerful and in fact is very powerful. It is winning. Don't expect people of faith not to be motivated by their faith. This is a wonderful area of common ground.
I personally know some of them. They themselves are often Christians which means that they believe that God made people male and female and that this ideology that is hurting children is wrong at its core. Which of course is true.
I think it’s quite possible Republican politicians don’t care either way. Possibly they take this stand just to court the religious right.

While this is a victory, as long as people continue to make this a religious issue, very little ground will be gained for the children.
