I've noticed this.

I've also noticed the high percentage of affirming mothers in the media who remind me of baby beauty pageant mothers back in the 1990s-2000s. They're mostly overweight, not very accomplished women. They're frequently divorced or single. They seem to be seeking attention and approval by using their children as vehicles for their own acclaim, rather than taking care of their own children & doing what's best for them.

Joshua Slocum would also note that many, if not most, have "borderline glasses." If you know who Joshua is, you'll know. (I recommend his podcast and substack: https://substack.com/@disaffectedpod. He's funny and very smart. I don't agree with him all of the time, but he's perceptive and entertaining.)

Please let’s not jump to negative stereotypes! We have no way of knowing what’s going on within families. It could be that these parents (not just mothers!) have been convinced by their child’s therapist that they must be “affirming” otherwise their child will commit suicide. They may be deluded but not as you imply uneducated narcissists. My ire is directed towards the mental health industry. As a society we must do better.
