There is nothing that can be done unless one can prove he wants out.

GenCrit, I just came back here to check on a link and see I did not answer your question. Our son was 20 at the time. He is 30 now. “Calm” is easy to pull off behind a screen. Honestly, I have to trust in sovereign providence or I will lose my mind.

Have you thought about talking to NCOSE? I think if there were a group of parents who brought their concern to them, they perhaps would listen.
