YES! Being a tomboy and athlete as a kid/teenager in the 90s and struggling with body issues I very much could’ve fallen trap to the trans movement.

It’s another reason why I have never affirmed my daughter who wasn’t even the slightest bit masculine when I received the email when she was 12 saying she thought she was trans.

Every adult in her school affirmed this delusion without even my knowing. They helped her hate her body so much that now at 21 she’s on testosterone.

I can only hope that the delusion lifts because the path she’s on will only create more harm towards her body that she hasn’t even had a chance to love yet.

Excellent piece. It wasn't until I was a teen that I started wanting to be a boy. Mostly because they got to do so much more than girls. But my daughter had a boy in her class in the 1980s who wanted to be a girl and told my daughter his mother said he could be anything he wanted when he grew up. There wasn't the push to transition in those days so he stayed a boy.

Such a powerful statement of how far we have fallen in just a few years and how ridiculous the “trans” delusion truly is.

I love this essay so much. Thank you for sharing your story. May many people read it and wake up from delusion. Our son never had a "girl phase" at all! Was not interested in anything like that until 2020 when he was 23, no longer under our roof, and I suppose online a lot. We've never gotten the story from him as to why he has gone this route, but he was a troubled soul who struggled in many ways, was neurodivergent, and obviously didn't like his body (which we never saw firsthand). There is no telling what other influences pushed him this direction. We WERE the parents saying, "don't change your body, change your mind, that's where the distress and difficulty lie..." but he would not hear it.

I'm a child of the 60s - went through the same basic thing - lasted a year or so (my dad killed himself around that time - I suspect that was the trigger) - came out the other side a happy bi-woman- and I am so pleased that trans wasn't around then or I would have been sucked in and destroyed by it...

+1 from a real Tommy.

So much light in your section about our childhood (the 70s and 80s . . . BEFORE) that the lies in your final paragraph almost made me sick: barf-in-the-garbage-can sick.

I thought I was too jaded by all this twisted, perverted, abusive evil to still feel that kind of visceral revulsion. I thought the tears, grief, rage and exhaustion had sapped it all out of me.

Then you kicked me in the stomach.

A taste of forgotten normal, and a spin of Newspeak, reminding my tummy I am still a real boy.

Thank you for one of the best posts this year.

I was there too! Just about 30 years earlier. Thank goodness for us both, we were born at the right times.

Also +1 for "We were all very stressed out and coping as best we could."

She had several zingers in this post.

That’s what I am going to say if someone talks about knowing trans people.

"Basically, don’t sweat it. Just ride it out and it will pass. Don’t make it into a big deal." Instead we do just the opposite and it MUST END. Social Media has given a way for porn fueled sick perverted men to gather together and strengthened and even normalized their sickness onto all of us and I have had enough. Time to say No! Do not let lies pass through us!

Was it your childhood memories or someone you know in the trans cult that inspired the writing?

It was/is my own child.
