This May Be Happening
I like to think that things are changing in quiet ways. A doctor hears about the lawsuits and decides it is just too risky to perform a mastectomy on a young woman with healthy breasts. He comes up with a reason to delay it. He feels safer, so he declines the surgery for the next young woman requesting it.
Another doctor is about to tell a six-foot-four young man that he can pass as a woman but decides that would not sound good in court. He says, “Well, I can remove your Adam’s apple if you don’t like it.” The young man doesn’t get the affirmation he craves and so doesn’t show up for his next appointment. After a couple more patients miss appointments, the doctor decides maybe this type of surgery is really not profitable.
An insurance company executive decides to routinely deny all cross-sex hormone treatments due to changing regulations. A physician’s assistant notices a pattern and tells the parent of a confused 18-year-old, “Your insurance probably won’t pay for this.” The parent, who wanted an excuse to stop medicalizing their child, tells their spouse, “We can’t afford it.”
The leader of a high school LGBT group quits teaching because things were not going her way. No other teacher was willing to replace her.
The parents of a young boy who claims to be a girl decides to sign him up for the boys’ soccer team. They don’t want the girls’ parents to dislike them.
A man dressed as a woman is fearful of being called out, so he waits until almost everyone has left the building before enjoying a trip into the ladies’ room. He realises that being in a room without urinals is just not that thrilling.

Insurance coverage needs to stop for cross hormones and surgery 🙏🙏
A college orientation leader no longer feels the need to specify he's a "he/him." A progressive professional woman silently takes the "she/her" out of her email signature. A conservative notices he hasn't even joked about "pronouns" in a long time because nobody cares about them anymore.
A "non-binary" woman notices it's been years since she's sincerely wanted gender-neutral restrooms. She's been fine with the women's restrooms this whole time.
An otherwise vulnerable teenage girl sees the TikToks reminiscing on the silly days of 2020: "Remember the labels we gave ourselves? Remember the ridiculous non-binary names we chose?" She agrees that the trend was absurd.
