I think what Tom Hanks and Hollywood is missing altogether (maybe on purpose or out of lack of real interest) is the devastation that this trans movement is causing on the families of these kids, from the moment one comes out. It's like the real problem is the lack of acceptance from society and parents. No, the real problem is the harm done to young minds and bodies and the estrangement that is forced on these kids and the constant portrayal of parents as being the enemy. I read the book, I loved the book, I saw the movie and I cried. Because I have one of these kids and I would hate the idea of her ever being in the position of asking for shelter from a grumpy old man. I would never kick my self-identfied ROGD trans kid out of my house. I am doing my best to hang on to her. But no, the problem is not the lack of acceptance, cause I accept my kid with good and bad, I just have to deal with myheartache, my mental health, my fear, my devastation at the thought that now that she's 18, she has the "opportunity" to maim her body and make herself steryle. That is the real problem and I hope one day someone will tell THAT story.

They should tell the story of young lives ruined forever, of parents having to bear the tragedy of losing their kids to a cult. This should not be glorified in movies, but I’m afraid Hollywood will continue in this vein.

They've heard about the devastation, but they deny it. In their minds, the problem is the bigots, like us, who stand in the way. Either that, or they're terrified of the social and professional ostracism that would be inevitable if they spoke out against the lunacy. A star as big as Hanks might survive, like J.K. Rowling. He's either drunk the Kool Aid, or he's playing it safe by conforming. He and his wife didn't have to put this in their movie, so I'm betting it's the former--he's a true believer.

Yes. It was always presented in the media as young kids insisting from the time they could talk that they were the opposite sex. I thought maybe there was something to it, something in our brains that gives us a sense of what sex we are, otherwise why would these young kids be insisting on this? I admit I didn’t think that much about it, and everyone has more or less accepted that being gay is inborn, and this was presented as the same thing. No one wants to be on the side of bigots! I was so ignorant and didn’t have any idea what the truth was until I found out that my daughter, who had never been nonconforming and was a normal happy girl from a supportive family with a normal childhood suddenly went off the rails - using a boy’s name at school, failing grades, hating parents, having no friends except online, saying she had multiple mental illnesses. Then I realized how false and manipulative the narrative you see in the media is. But anyone who hasn’t seen this first hand? I understand why they think they are doing the right thing. Society has been brainwashed
