I've heard the number of 7 years several times, one of which was presented at a recent GenSpec conference. I found some statistics in this scientific article: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10322769/
I think it's important to state that it is anecdotal, based on a fairly small number of stories. We don't want to take anecdotal stories as facts - it can result in a false sense of hope or doom in parents (depending on what stage their kids are in)
I have edited. We are not scientists and nobody would or should take anything we PITT parents say as something academic. I have seen the 6-10 year number many times. I can’t control what people hope or nor hope - some children will desist, others may never desist and go quite far in their surgeries, and others may even die as a result of those surgeries eg phalloplasty. Hence I always say Psalm 91. God is my only comfort. What else can we do?
Also, what is detransitioning? If you have destroyed your genitals, your looks, your voice, what can you go back to? Corinna said: to detransition, I just cut my hair.
The heart. The mind. This is more important than detransitioning the body. But things can be done to help that too, and more will be figured out as more medical providers wake up and seek those answers.
Fortunately it seems that voice surgery (to repair the voice damaged by testosterone) and breast lifts (to repair some but not all of the damage caused by binding) exist - I read about it yesterday.
I wish I could trade places with her as well. I would pull my son out of school, take away phone and internet, he'd be on lock down so fast his head would swim. But instead, im here as my now 38 year old son plans his sex rejection surgery as soon as possible. Parents that are still in a position of control need to realize they need to be swift and firm. Every day further pulls them into this cult, every time they use the requested wrong names or pronouns, it further solidifies it in their brains. Behave as if you're fighting for your child's life, because you are. Its just like grabbing a toddler before he runs into the street. They can't understand the danger no matter how much you tell them. You're not going to "reason" them out of this. They didn't "reason" their way into it, they "felt" it and feelings aren't facts or reality. As a parent, you have to just save them against their will. They'll be mad but so what? Being mad for a while is better than the other option.
I did. I behaved as if I was fighting for my daughters life. She got social workers to give her housing and money and no longer speaks to us. She’s binding and working in a gay bar. However based on Instagram photos I’ve seen of her she has no acne so still no evidence of testosterone use although who knows. I need a private investigator to go to that gay bar where she works and order something whilst recording her voice, I’d like to know if there’s changes. But private investigators charge lots of money for these things. She’s now 20 and doesn’t talk to us since she’s 17.
I read this with the utmost compassion - and envy. She still lives at home and you still have a shred of influence. My 36 year old daughter is scheduled for a double mastectomy next Thursday. I feel like I'm waiting for the day of execution and I can do nothing. I hope with all my heart that things will go better for you - and her.
This really sums it all up. Would be interested in a follow up.
I hope this week is but a distant memory by now and the author's daughter abandoned the ideology years ago.
For females it usually takes 6-10 years based on anecdotical observations
reference, please?

Maia Poet said she took 12 years. Other detransitioners on Tik Tok I’ve seen speak about 7-8 years.
Anecdotal - from what other PITT and Bayswater parents have said
