As someone who has worked with StoicMom, I can attest to the efficacy of shifting focus away from the culture wars, and the reframing of mindset - thought and action - that she gently promotes. There is immense value (not to mention relief) in looking at and engaging in what brings joy, and modeling this for our kids. There is still significant pain there for me, as well as grief and anger at the political and cultural battle that has caused this mess, but the reminder to step back and look at the larger picture without minimizing the very real dangers of my kid's situation has been gold.
Hi parents, I'm sharing the following link https://www.di-ag.org/ with as many political sites I find calling conservatives "weird" concerning the tragically rapid growth of trans identifying kids. DIAG represents a group of Democrat constituents who also believe that some players in the government and medical community are on the wrong side of history. I'm trying to show people that this a significant issue regardless of party affiliation. Please consider posting the link as well. I don't think that some people understand how devastating the movement is or how far reaching it goes.
There's some really useful information on this site! Thank you for sharing it. I especially appreciated the talking points under sowing seeds of doubt...
I think your observation about the minimizing of the trans epidemic by progressives is accurate. As a former progressive myself, I’m familiar with the superiority complex we sometimes have, which enables us to justify our beliefs and policies as expressions of our more tolerant, humane, intelligent and noble nature, as opposed to the benighted, undereducated, bigoted, weird and backward nature of conservatives.
To progressives, conservatives live in a world of paranoia and conspiracy theories. Of course, there are exceptions, and it would be wrong to over-generalize. But having experienced both sides of this dynamic, I know it’s a “thing.”
I just have a suggestion about language since I believe language is the primary weapon used in this war. How about referring to these kids and young adults as trans-captured instead of trans-identified? My reason is that the "identity" word, and the "identify as" phrase, are some of the more key weaponized words and therefore, like "gender," I think it's best to avoid them altogether.
(Though recently I heard Andrew Doyle say something like, just because so many words have been co-opted / hijacked, that doesn't mean they should be discarded. I see his point but I think each case is different. I think it would definitely help if people simply quit using the word "gender", and quit saying "so and so identifies as".)
That said, I'm very sorry your daughter got caught by the cult. I'm not even a parent and yet I still was terrorized by a vicious trans-actor and the people under his contro. He was my next door neighbor. In fact my child-free status is one of the reasons he targeted me. (Think, "Of course that woman is dangerous to children, she doesn't have any.") It's an hours-long story but I'm trying to say, because of what's been done to me, including being dragged through family court, I often think about the parents whose children have been at least metaphorically if not literally kidnapped by this state cult, and I think about the fact that I would definitely be in jail if I was a parent in this situation.
I have in fact been criminally convicted. I was charged following a sign war that was started by these neighbors. I expect to win on appeal but the cost financially and personally has been massive.
Conversations With Stoic Mamas Along the Way - I love this! Thank you for this much needed outlet and safe space for Mamas to gather and share around the world. We are all in this together!
Hi Erica. Feel free to email me at stoicmom@protonmail.com. I would encourage visiting my Stack at stoicmom.substack.com and getting a sense of the culture there. Maybe listen to the interviews I've had with other professionals. The most recent with Dr. Maggie Goldsmith.
This sounds like the kinda thing I need!! I'm quite literally floundering and have been for years. Looking forward to tuning in, it sounds like a positive initiative. Thank you in advance!!

Well done.

SM: is there a different form to complete as a professional in the health field (not a mama)?
