Your description of Gender Ideology is correct, but of Scientology is not. I am a non-Scientologist who has an entire branch of my family, on my Dad's side, who are Scientologists (his brother and his kids). They have never gone "no contact", they don't push Scientology on me or anyone, and they are the most normal family. We all are present at each others' weddings, funerals, etc. and there has never been any of the sort of thing I have had to deal with with my MTF Son and my Ex-Wife and her family, who are completely intolerant and went no contact as soon as I did not affirm.

He told the story of Sage Blair — a Virginia teen who sat in the audience with her mother — who sued her school board after teachers and others at school “sought to socially transition her” to a boy at school without her parents’ knowledge, leading to a “horrific” situation.
“It’s going on all over, numerous states, without even telling the parents,” Trump claimed. “Surely, we can all agree, no state should be allowed to rip children from their parents’ arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents’ will. We must ban it and we must ban it immediately.”
What he appeared to be referring to was the practice of young person opting to go through a “social transition. That means trying on for size, essentially, the idea of living “in line with their gender identity, rather than the gender assumed by their sex at birth, a process that typically involves changing a child’s pronouns, first name, hairstyle, and clothing,” according to a study of the practice in Pediatrics, which found that most (94%) still identified as trans at the end of a five-year period.
There were plenty of critics of Trump’s claims today, with an Advocate op-ed noting, “Anecdote became mandate in a matter of seconds, and a child’s vulnerability was transformed into justification for federal intervention.”
Trump was “weaponizing” the family’s story to push for a nationwide ban of transgender youth, LGBTQ Advocacy group Equality Virginia said in a statement.

I'm not sure why you are quoting this news article, but it does fit into the author's essay quite well - it reads like a Church of Scientology press release. Phrases like "gender assumed by their sex at birth" is queer theory drivel; any doctor using this gender ideology vocabulary should not be practicing medicine. When they tell us we need psychiatric drugs because we have a chemical imbalance they aren't lying about the chemical imbalance but what they don't tell you is that the wicked have created the chemical imbalance by getting us to inject, ingest, breathe, and absorb toxins in everything we come in contact with (as well as program us with what we view on screens!). In Psalm 139:14 it says "we are fearfully and wonderfully made". Our bodies were designed to fight off many things on their own if properly taken care of but when you can't get good food and they poison your air and water and everything else it's hard to do that. As a therapist practicing for 20 years, we know we could never provide an answer to a client.

Over the decades as members married and had families of their own to raise, and especially after Rev. Moon's death and the chaos of succession, the Unification Church (now Family Federation for World Peace) toned down many of Rev. Moon's more radical teachings, so that now (2020s) the expected tithe is 10% - with, as noted above, frequent appeals for extra funds for specific projects. The purpose of the "toning down" was two-fold - to present a more palatable image to the general public, and to attempt to retain existing members who were understandably worn out from the high demands of their earlier years in the church.
Cults are generally credited with fleecing their members / victims: a 10% tithe would only be a beginning. Most cults initially draw in victims by offering everything for free--only once committed will money be demanded. But as a victim is drawn further and further into an inner circle, their entire income will often be expected, often to gratify and glorify an avaricious cult leader.
By itself, you're are correct that tithing is not a "only in cults" behavior, as many respectable organizations raise money this way. Similarly, a club that has its own lingo doesn't mean that the club is a cult. Rowing clubs use all sorts of lingo that no one else would understand.
