I just came back from DC where I attended Detrans Awareness Day 2025. The event was amazing thanks to a broad coalition led by Genspect, Genspect USA, partner organizations and the parents and detransitioners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event a success. The conference was informative and relevant. Even though those of us who have been in this battle for years had heard most of the information and testimonies before, there was something refreshing and vibrant about this information being shared in a room on Capitol Hill at a time when the tide is turning from the top of the government down. The VIPs of the event were, of course, the brave detransitioners who showed up like victors, not victims. These young people have worked so hard and fought against hatred, cancelling, doxxing and even death threats to be heard, and now they have been given a platform and a megaphone. Another group of VIPs in the conference were the medical doctors who have risked their careers, reputations and even their freedom to denounce the medical crimes being committed by their profession - tipping my hat to you, Dr. Eithan Haim. They have been sounding the alarm about the dangers of so-called gender affirming care for years, but now their words took an urgency that this can and must truly be stopped in the near future. If you didn’t get a chance to watch the event, I encourage you to do so, here Detrans Awareness Day.
A group of unsung heroes at the event were the parent advocates who worked to make other important events happen during the week. One of the biggest achievements was a Resolution in support of Detransitioners, which was drafted by parents. It was sponsored by House Representative Mary Miller of Illinois. Detransitioners are now recognized, on the record, in the United States Congress! Read HR 224 here. We encourage everyone to reach out to their representative in Congress, send them the resolution and ask them to join Rep Miller by adding their name in support of this resolution.
After the conference, detransitioners, parent advocates, and the leaders of various organizations went to meetings including a press conference with Representative Crenshaw of TX Crenshaw Press Release.
There was also a first of a kind meeting with the Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon and a representative for the Health and Human Services Department. The detransitioners present at that meeting bravely told their stories of being overtly affirmed in their schools. Those in attendance were spellbound listening to the young people’s stories. Though they had heard about detransitioners and even read some of their stories, they were deeply moved to listen to the stories being told by the people who were victimized by gender ideology and so-called gender affirming care. It reminded me of war. We can read about it, even see some pictures depicting war but it’s not until the survivors come out and tell their testimonies about the brutal harm done to them, that it really hits home for most people. You can read about that meeting, here DOE Press Release.
We attended the launch of the Resilience Health Network (RHN), a new nonprofit organization established by physicians, to provide compassionate, evidence-based support for detransitioners seeking to repair and recover their innate sex traits and function after undergoing masculinizing or feminizing medical interventions. Resilience Health Network.
Parents, detransitioners and allies walked the halls of congress for two days knocking on legislators’ doors and sharing their stories with legislative staff, as well as giving legislative requests on behalf of detransitioners. Parents who are members of Democrats for an Informed Approach to Gender DIAG took the opportunity to educate the legislators in their party. Capitol Hill opened its doors to us. The responses from legislators and staff varied from warm and welcoming to polite.
Detransition Awareness Day was a crowning achievement for detransitioners. They came to Capitol Hill and conquered it with authority and grace. We, the parents, who must stay partially or fully behind the scenes felt our hearts overflow with pride and joy for these young people, who feel like our own children. They give us hope for the future. We will continue working tirelessly for justice and health for each and every detransitioned young person, for our children who are still trapped in this medical nightmare and for the children who are coming behind them.
Veni Vidi Vici: We came, We saw, We conquered!
A huge thank you to these brave people. I hope and pray that detransitioning and desisting become the cool thing to do.
I just want to be done with this woke ideology.
Yes indeed! "These young people have worked so hard and fought against hatred, cancelling, doxxing and even death threats to be heard, and now they have been given a platform and a megaphone."
And double yes: "They give us hope for the future. We will continue working tirelessly for justice and health for each and every detransitioned young person, for our children who are still trapped in this medical nightmare and for the children who are coming behind them."
