I'm sure that the brain loses ability. Hormones have powerful, overall impacts. When you remove the hormones that are natural to your natal sex, and add the hormones for the other sex, you lose ability.

More than that, you lose the time. During my teens and twenties, I was learning things and investigating what turned out to be my future profession. I went to graduate school. I didn't question if I was a man - this was never an issue. I questioned if I knew my area well enough, and probably needed to learn more. I got my PhD when I was about 29, after years of study and experimentation. I did not waste my precious time questioning the fundamental facts of my person. I learned things.

These kids are wasting their best years of their lives by this delusional psychosis.

Reading this I was struck that a highly intelligent man, who could have focused on his area of interest to the point of expertise- thereby becoming attractive to women and friends ( success, money, stability, knowledge to share) was sidelined into a life where none of this happens. Instead of finding his strengths his weaknesses were put front and center along with false hope. How tragic for you to watch, more so how tragic for him. I was married to a genius level Asperger’s guy. He had many quirks, was socially awkward, but also had so many qualities he had acquired (skills as well as morals) that people came to admire and respect. He was the go to guy when things got tough. Together for 40 years, we built a home and family of great kids that he could be surrounded by ( insulated by) until he succumbed to cancer. How sad this process can so easily be short tracked to craziness.
