We’re happy to see such changes coming about, although as many of you point out, it’s too late for many families.
The ISSUE of whether or not a male can “become” a female and vice-versa (or neither male nor female) is NOT being addressed at its root. And there are plenty of people who are so deeply indoctrinated in trans ideology that these changes in law and schooling are met with such fierce anger and opposition that they not only don’t lead to a greater understanding but may have a negative effect in ever achieving such.
I applaud all those involved in putting restraints on the heinous “affirmative care” that’s been sold to vulnerable people, young and old; at the same time, I hope we don’t lose sight of continuing to counteract the madness of propaganda.

Our family is broken by this and at my son’s age we really have no recourse. He is high functioning spectrum but I don’t believe enough to warrant legal action, which would really cause even more harm and divide within the situation. We don't know all the long-term problems that can arise from years of ingesting wrong-sex hormones.
Also, while it's a big step in the right direction, I'm not impressed with the new guidance of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Allowing gender-transition surgeries on 19 year-olds is still too young. The brain's "executive function," the ability to think objectively about ones circumstances and make good, long-term decisions, relies on the maturation of the pre-frontal cortex. This process can take up to the age of 30 to come fully online. A 19 year-old is still a teenager.
I fear that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons is playing fast and loose with the public...there's still a lot of money to be made from lopping off the genitals and breasts of young adults.

And for the young adults who came to this revelation after the age of 18 but out of nowhere, have no paper trail or documentation of their entire previous history of nonexistent gender distress. Yet these newly iatrogenically distressed young adults often rewrite their entire histories. So, for this population set there are still no guardrails and this industry will continue to be consumer-based medicine built on a house of cards. For many then, lifelong damage will continue to be done, and money will still be made. This entire practice simply needs to stop as it is not medically sound or safe.

agree 100% - the insurance companies need to take note and stop funding this destruction. If someone wants plastic surgery, they pay for it, not through insurance. I think if we just take that step- where insurance won't cover hormones and surgeries - heck I cannot get a new, more womanly nose covered by insurance, and I have to pay for my own HRT through menopause - just that should be enough to lessen the harm. I agree - shut it all down! it's not medical care, it's not science, it's only for profit, and the harm is truly monumental.
Yes!! Insurance is key and that is why activists insisted that it was "discrimination" not to get wrong sex hormones for "born in the wrong body" and that women should get healthy breasts amputated for "gender" because they can be removed for cancer.

For this medical scandal, root cause analysis should be performed, and than the issue can be addressed properly- education: schools, universities, and than healthcare: medical staff- layer by layer, psychologists, paediatrists, psychiatrists, surgeons. I’m completely furious with the medical community the way they are affirming these kids and young adults and I do believe a high percentage of these youth are neurodivergent with mental differences too. However, my son being 22, I’m also angry with him for what he’s choosing to do. I do not share my anger with him as we are trying our best to keep a positive relationship the best we can. Any insight is always appreciated.
Maybe he is not (completely) choosing this. The whole "trans movement" is a combination of psychogenic illness, cult, and mass hysteria combining in a perfect storm.

Yes, this is wonderful news! Unfortunately, I have a 22 year old son that believes he is female and I think he’s taking HRT. I wish the ruling would go up to 25, an age closer to full brain development.
Our family is broken by this and at my son’s age we really have no recourse. He is high functioning spectrum but I don’t believe enough to warrant legal action, which would really cause even more harm and divide within the situation. I pray in time he will learn to love himself. I truly don’t know how a parent fully recovers from this devastation.
I don't think I will ever recover or be the same again. My best hope is to pick up the pieces with a damaged son and changed relationships in my family and make the best of it. And that's only if my son sometime desists. A vandalized life for all of us is my best hope unfortunately.
I agree. This 2 million dollar verdict is not going to make us whole again. The years already lost, and the future that has been lost for those who died or remain physically altered. Money cannot put that back.
This is great news and worthy of celebration. It was good to see it go to jury. Offers to settle out of court are the norm and then often come with silencing the harmed. It was also good to see the mental health professional called to account. I hope it puts fear in that industry.
But it is also drop in the bucket. All youth matriculate into adulthood where there is a growing number of surgeons being trained and ready to lop off breasts without a thought. Evidence points that insurance conspired with industry (often they are one and the same - they cover what they perform) to give the green light for coverage to grow markets. It is the industry that ultimately must be dismantled.
Better to say a drop in the ocean than say drop in a bucket. The amount of suffering that had occurred is uncountable.
The jury trial in Westchester, NY that vindicated 22 year old Fox Varian, a detransitioner who had her breasts removed at the age of 16, sets a good example for the rest of the country. The absence of pro-trans activists was something new. The jury consisted of regular folks. They listened to the evidence, and awarded her 2 million dollars. Let's hope it sets a precedent.
But no amount of money will restore her breasts or reverse the permanent effects of testosterone: facial hair, a deepened but often squeaky, nasal voice, the risk of osteoporosis and early onset of dementia, atrophy of the vagina which makes intercourse and orgasm painful, and of course, no ability to breast feed if she decides to have a baby. We don't know all the long-term problems that can arise from years of ingesting wrong-sex hormones.
Also, while it's a big step in the right direction, I'm not impressed with the new guidance of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Allowing gender-transition surgeries on 19 year-olds is still too young. The brain's "executive function," the ability to think objectively about ones circumstances and make good, long-term decisions, relies on the maturation of the pre-frontal cortex. This process can take up to the age of 30 to come fully online. A 19 year-old is still a teenager.
I fear that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons is playing fast and loose with the public...there's still a lot of money to be made from lopping off the genitals and breasts of young adults.

Goldis discussed this turn of events during an excellent interview on Megyn Kelly's show the other day. It's interesting that Dansky, Goldis and Kelly are all attorneys.
I didn't know that Goldis is now at the FTC. The stupid partisan barriers between like-minded activists are breaking down. It's a wonderful thing.

I am so glad that these lawsuits are starting and that policies are changing. My son was over 18, but under 25 when he had vaginoplasty. He's still living this nightmare. But these changes give me great hope that no other parent has to endure what we are.
