I really appreciated getting to read True Believer's account because we hardly ever get to hear those particular stories: of parents who bought into gender identity ideology until they just couldn't any more. Perhaps these are the parent equivalent of detransitioner stories? A characteristic of toxic social movements is that they persuade, encourage, trick or coerce their members into doing harmful things - and every time the members comply, it becomes harder and harder to leave the group. This doesn't absolve anyone of personal responsibility, but I've come to see it as a horribly effective tactic for keeping people in bad situations. I think these stories help us to see such dynamics more clearly.
