I fully agree with the bulk of this piece. Still, I squirm at the suggestion that receipt of a letter from an endorsing healthcare provider might be enough to justify Planned Parenthood's (or anyones) quickly supplying cross-sex hormones to any young adult
Hoping the writer won't mind if people make a copy of this letter and send it anonymously in one of the PP donation envelopes. No reason not to waste their fundraising money. The only thing that will make them stop and reconsider their current dangerous direction is to hit them in the pocketbook.
It is difficult to see organizations that formed the bedrock of your core belief system become such horror shows (PP, ACLU, HRC…). If nothing else, this ideology has shown me that blind allegiance to any party or entity is not healthy nor truly democratic.
I think planned parenthood does require you to be 18 in order to recieve the hormones, at least in most cases... but the fact that we are encouraging young tweens and teens to socially present and be addressed as whatever the desired "gender" is means we are not getting to the root of their discomfort, we are not helping them to discover less trendy, more meaningful ways to achieve what they are trying to achieve here (they want to stand out and they want to fit in - I wish I could come up with a succint way to put this), in short we are not helping them to mature and grow and move past this phase ... which means they are keeping their eyes on the prize of easy hormone access as soon as they are legally old enough. (similar in my opinion to what is happening to the kids who go on puberty blockers... when you have adults praising you for being different and you miss the chance to adapt to puberty with your peers, why wouldn't you just keep rolling with it later on?)
Our PP has so many coming for hormones that they have a wait list. :-(
Planned Parenthood has gone way off course when it comes to helping women, and I think they are going to lose a lot of long time supporters over it. I'm much more concerned about the impact trans rights will have on women than I am over losing easy access to abortion. I never imagined I would need to choose between these two things.
Your points are brilliantly communicated and this is a beautiful template for communicating with Planned Parenthood. I think most at Planned Parenthood are true believers needing new souls to save. How else could they maintain the cognitive dissonance needed for such dangerous and irresponsible practices? The "Salvation Cult" continues to convert and create both souls to save and the saviors to perform the bloody rites. Let's hope it's possible to break through to some reasonable minds with letters like this.
Not only are they letting women down, they are returning to their eugenic roots by leading confused women on a path to sterilization. Many women will regret what Planned Parenthood will have done to their bodies and desires to have children. And there will be lawyers waiting to take on Planned Parenthood.
This is so very well written and so on point. Ever since I was introduced to Helena and how easy it was for her to get started on testosterone at PP, I lost all respect for the organization. I am an RN and it blows me away how the nurse practioner she saw so casually gave her a massive dose to get started. Thank you for your post.
I believe in the right to abortion and contraception and have always supported Planned Parenthood. In dispensing cross sex hormones, they are seriously fucking up.
I've long been a vocal PP opponent, so what they're doing doesn't surprise me at all. I'm sympathetic, though, to those who feel betrayed. It's isolating and disorienting when those you thought were allies turn out to be enemies.
The fact that hormone therapy can cause cancer and stroke like it did with your mom should be more publicized. I was unaware of this, and it’s almost certain these clinics are not checking for genetic predisposition to these health problems. So much negligence happening here.
The ACLU and Planned Parenthood are dead to me now. They broke my liberal heart. That leaves me more money to support organizations like Save Women's Sports.
I have also been monthly donors to PP and ACLU for many years. I've stopped my monthly donations and written to them explaining why I no longer support them. I'm appalled at their unethical policies.
Hormone therapy without psychological therapy is dangerous for genderdysphoric and trans children. Planned parenthood is not in the therapy practice therefore should not simply give out life-altering hormones.
Hormone therapy without a thorough vetting of the person’s condition should happen first, and used to be the protocol. What happened to change that? The false narrative that 50% of gender dysphoric people will commit suicide?

"Reproductive health services"
Euphemism for murdering children. Gotta love how people justify heinous actions.

This is a great idea!
Excellent. I recently stopped giving as well
If you really want to help women with actual healthcare, give to local health clinics.

Who owns planned parenthood, the drug companies I suspect.

No surprise as cross sex hormones are seen as the new contraceptive. Ethics abandoned.

Same. We've been donors for years. Not any more.
Fund local health and women's clinics who give actual healthcare, instead. (Provided they don't also give hormones, of course)

good plan... give the money to folks that know what a woman is.

Affirmation happened. Comorbidities assumed to be due to stigma. Unfalsifiable.
Great piece. I agree. PP will no longer receive a cent from me or mine. I am also sending them a copy of this letter. Thanks.
