frankly, i don't think the announcement of "preferred" pronouns should be standard inclusion practice for adults either. we have long standing rules already in place for grammar and should use them. we don't need to reinvent the english language to humor a few attention seekers.

i just worked on a show and unbeknownst to me, the producers put my bio in the program with "pronouns" that they must have assumed based on my physical appearance that i would use. of course and obviously, i am a woman because i was born that way, not "assigned" and will always be a woman no matter how i "identify."

but i am struck by the hypocrisy of the language police. if i was a pierced, tattooed, dyed green hair person i suspect they would have asked me my pronouns and i would have said clearly "i am not a member of your church; i do not subscribe to your beliefs. you can either list my name with no pronouns or leave my name out entirely."

but they did not ask. they assumed- something that goes against their cultist, virtue signalling "principles."

one day, working in the costume shop i said, in speaking about a cast member who was not in the room, "is this her bra?" and was immediately informed that she "uses they/them pronouns." no way i am going to refer to a single individual in the plural form; nor am i going to use she when talking about a man even if that man is wearing a bra and a dress and has taken enough hormones to give himself cancer later in life.

all the time i was in the theater, i didn't use a single pronoun. i said things like "i'm going to take XXX's dress to XXX's dressing room so XXX can try it on." it was nuts but at least i didn't get caught in a trip line

these pronoun people are bullies. the female singer i referred to as "she" was not in the room and so my being instructed to call her a "them" was purely performative. obviously, if i was speaking to her i would call her by name and not by pronoun so it is a matter, not of politeness, but of trying to control my speech.

meanwhile, again the person who lectured me on the correct pronouns never bothered to ask mine. sadly i didn't see the program until the last performance. but i am going to have a talk with the producers. if i work with them again, they CANNOT put pronouns after my name. i don't want anyone thinking that i condone this bullshit

Adults should not be introducing themselves by pronouns either. This is a religious practice that should not be tyrannically imposed in secular spaces.
