Thank you for this. I, too, have stopped donating to Planned Parenthood and written to them to tell them why.

Now when I get their solicitations in the mail (still!), I write my opinion all over their literature and stuff it all back into the pre-paid envelope so they at least have to pay for postage. I do the same with the ACLU.

(My god, when I think of all the thousands and thousands of dollars I've given to these organizations over the years . . . .)

Bravo! I believe that in my early 20s Planned Parenthood was instrumental in saving my life, but I too have written to them saying that as long as they are offering "affirmative care" (aka cloaked sterilization) to confused minors, I will not contribute again to their organization. Your letter is outstanding and a great example. Thank you so much for sharing!

I love it! I love seeing the movement to speak out, writing letters, asking for your student records. I love seeing that we are no longer silenced. It’s hopeful, it’s empowering to give a parent courage to speak up, to tell their child it’s all lies. It’s a lie you can’t change sex, it’s a lie that you have to share a bathroom with the opposite sex otherwise you are not nice.

Thank you for speaking out!

Does the author really think Alexis McGill cares what anyone writes to her? Does she think PP will stop their second biggest money-maker because of letters? Sending it to your Congressperson might have some chance of having an effect.

Lisa Simeone's avatar

I bet she's done both, written to PP and also to her Congressional reps. I know I have.

Why can't you be supportive of the author, instead of looking for things to attack her over?

I find it fascinating that the author recognizes the depravity of Planned Parenthood harming healthy children with hormones and mutilating surgery yet has "for years...supported" that same organization mutilating healthy unborn children. Perhaps she is unaware that in late stage abortion the baby is dismembered limb-by-limb with forceps and skull crushed sometimes without first killing it with digoxin or potassium chloride. Either way, it is well established that the baby feels intense pain and suffering prior to death.

Until you're ready to adopt and raise every single child born to the mothers you want to force to carry pregnancies against their will, you can stop pretending you care about those children.

You don't care. You don't have proven data for what you claim. You don't even care WHY women have to get late-stage abortions: because of birth defects that will torture those much-wanted babies to death once they're outside the womb. You don't care about those babies or their parents' agony.

And you don't care in the slightest about holding the fathers responsible. Why aren't you fighting to force teen boys and men to be sterilized against their will, until they have wives who can grant them reverse-vasectomies? It's a simple reversible out-patient procedure--unlike nine months of pregnancy and then life-threatening childbirth. Too Big Government for you?

You're trying to force Big Government into the insides of innocent girls' and women's bodies.

We will never let you.

We shall overcome.

great letter Is there a National Office that we can send a letter to?

senora sangria's avatar

What a great letter! Much fuller and more polite than the ones I've been sending them every time they ask for a donation! Way to go!

Every time I let them (i.e., Planned Parenthood) know how I feel -- that supporting so-called affirmative care for kids who ID as "trans" is harmful -- I've been secretly hoping that I am but one among many...thanks to PITT now I know you others are out there doing it too! THANKS!

We tried for years to get my son to participate in therapy/counseling to no avail. One 30 minute visit to PP and he had a prescription for hormones. He has documented and untreated depression and a host of other things… but went to PP with his self diagnosis. By all means, PP says lets give you some hormones and that will fix everything. Guess what? He’s still dealing with untreated depression, impulsivity and a whole host of other things, but now identifies as female. I have deep resentment toward PP.

Becca - In my 'personal' research (i.e. I'm a woman) I found that female hormones don't help with depression or other mental health illnesses rather they can make them worse. We also have a family inherited health condition that is worsened by cross sex hormones going into our son's body. PP gave him the meds, 1st meeting, no questions asked. Their liability is HUGE unless they change courses immediately. I hope they are put out of business for their egregious disregard for the health & well being of these kids.

I agree that hormones just exacerbate what is already going on which is why I am so very angry that PP is allowed to do this. My son was 21 at the time so there was and is very little we can do other than love him but stand gently firm about the fact that he is our amazing son.

When our daughter turned away from transitioning and was finally willing to answer some of our questions, we learned she had gotten testosterone from PP. I had no idea that it could be obtained from them, though I should not have been surprised.

How old was your daughter when PP gave her testosterone? I'm trying to confirm whether or not they prescribe to minors; sometimes they claim they don't. Thanks. And I'm so glad to hear your daughter turned away from transitioning.

WorthyByGrace's avatar

She was 18.

Thank you. We are grateful and well aware that it could very easily not be the case.

Thanks for replying.

At a minimum, they send girls to people who can provide puberty blockers and wrong sex hormones to minors....

Thanks so much for this letter! The second planned parenthood link you provided has now been taken down. Maybe you can provide an original screen shot of what you were trying to link to?

From the main Planned Parenthood website:

https://www.plannedparenthood.org/blog/i-want-to-transition-how-old-do-you-have-to-be-to-get-hrt

Proof that "some" Planned Parenthood clinics DO provide hormones to minors with parental consent.

In addition, each geographical area has their own PP website. Here's the gender page for the Washington, D.C. area Planned Parenthood locations (which do require patients to be 18 but have no other requirements):

https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-metropolitan-washington-dc/patient-resources/gender-affirming-care

"Informed Consent is a model of care in which patients are able to access hormones during a visit with their provider, where they'll discuss the risks and benefits of care. No visit with a mental health professional is required."

"Gender Affirming Care at our health centers includes hormone prescriptions and linkage to additional care as needed.

You must be 18 years of age or older to access these services."

The "linkage to additional care" would be referrals to surgery, of course.

What really, really makes me angry is the number of pro-trans people on comment boards who insist that hormones are never prescribed for minors and are only given to adults after extensive therapy. What lies!!! Maybe that was the policy 25 years ago, but no longer; and there's the proof right on PP's websites.

Maybe they can double down and create trans fetuses?
