Oh, I have an idea. NYT can do their research and find the critical stories that are written, the critical research that has been done, and so much more. Heck, it is all at their fingertips should they wish to really engage.
It turns out instead they have traveled far and wide to the supposable home to the first patients on blockers and interviewed them. How grand of them while the grand central station of transing children - the good ole USA -keeps at their business.
For those of us with breastless daughters, gelded sons and worse, I suspect NYT is not our salvation.
No. NYT has become nothing more than a compendium of laundered intelligence. The deep state is its pilot and it has NO good intentions wrt anything traditional.
NYT will harness your stories in order to further the divide between children and their natural parents. They will run interference on you.
Ask yourselves: What has NYT done that benefits family values?
I am disappointed in PITT over this. Let’s be selective in the channels we use for outreach.
What’s next, an appearance on the Howard Stern show?
Haven't tried it yet, but working off DLM's description, I installed the Voice Memos app for Android and signed up for the 3-day free trial (I don't intend to continue with the paid subscription). There are probably other apps, some free (?), some for iPhone if that's what you need. Then, as DLM wrote, record your message and "share" it with the app via email to NYT. Be sure and share it to your own email as well if you intend to delete the app when you're done, as I intend to do.
In the entire history of the New York Times, what would make me think there is any possibility of fair reporting. The mere mention of Donald Trump in connection with recent state legislation tells me where the NYT is going with this.
The New York Times was one the key outlets in the “Russia, Russia, Russia” hoax against Donald Trump. For telling these lies, the newspaper was awarded a Pulitzer prize.
After the election of Donald Trump in 2016, economist Paul Krugman for the New York Times predicted a severe economic downturn. He told people to sell their stock market holdings. In contrast to Paul Krugman’s prediction, the market experienced substantial growth.
Thanks for the above link. I'm gratified to read the NYT defended their reporting (which, overall, still adheres to the trans narrative) rather than whimpering mea culpas as most of corporations accused of transphobia tend to do. Also of note: Protesters "included specific demands: that the Times 'stop printing biased anti-trans stories'..." Obviously, they were fine with the Times' continuing to print biased pro-trans stories.
Yes, thanks for pointing that out. As a regular reader of the Times, I'm aware that their coverage of trans issues has been at least somewhat balanced, enough so that it has enraged some trans activists.
I I recorded a voice memo using the “voice memo app.” In the app I sent it to email (in the “more” section there is an icon that looks like a page with an arrow)
Then I sent it to the NYT at thedaily@nytimes.com with the subject line “pediatric gender care voice memo.”
..& a link to the PITT books, this Substack..?? I share everyone’s concerns about twisted or silenced testimonies, but is there anything worse to lose than what we’ve lost already
As one who has had some dealings with reporters, this stinks. The abstract reads like many I've seen before: "we'd like to talk to you about your experience with [holy and good thing]". Those who submit quotes in favor of said thing will be valorized; those who challenge it will be painted as the devil incarnate. And these days, the latter is physically dangerous. As tranny activists are losing cultural power, they're becoming violent.
When cultural dissidents choose to engage with establishment press, these interactions must be managed carefully. The dissidents need to know their side will be given a fair hearing. Conservatives have a long track record in doing this. When conservatives are interviewed, they establish the rules of the interview in advance and always record it themselves. They ensure they have access to a rival friendly media outlet to dispel the misinformation the mainstream press will undoubtedly try to tar them with. This format provides none of those safeguards. Be wary.
Off the record (no names)... maybe. On the record with published names? Not a chance!
If you don't tell your story, then you are assured no one else will hear it. You assume the worst, but give them a chance. All you can do is present a point of view they may not be receptive to, but one they can't ignore if they hear from enough parents like those who post their stories here. I would suggest sticking with honest, straightforward, detailed accounts with names, dates and locations that can be fact-checked. Angry, blame-filled or highly emotional rants won't help, unless you want to come across as the "devil incarnate." I would also suggest leaving out religious references, Bible verses and political viewpoints. This is an issue that should not have been politicized, and it is relevant to people of all walks of life. Remember that most of your opponents are well-meaning, but highly misinformed.
I have given legacy reporters many chances and been burned many more times than not. I won't argue with you about the need; I agree. But there are no limits on the use of these recordings as far as I can tell, which means the NYT could happily post them right next to your contact information on their website if they're so inclined.
The NYT leads the press establishment, and since that establishment has demonstrated they think anything less than total affirmation is bigotry and likely child abuse, I think non-affirming parents should be very wary. Most people (especially liberals, and PITT is mostly disaffected liberals) have this idea that reporters at least try to be objective and honest; most are neither. They are narrative peddlers, and unless they openly confirm (by their prior actions) that their narrative is in line with yours, you should assume they're out to make you look like an ogre.
I agree. Tell your story. I don't know if you are religious or anything, but leave that part out. Discuss the division, the hurt, and the pain it caused.
Suggestion. To everyone submitting their stories to the NYT, also send a copy to PITT editors, and let the NYT know that PITT editors will be receiving a copy. If PITT editors collect copies of all the submitted testimonies, these could be published in full on PITT, at the same time the NYT publishes their story.
Please, as many of you as possible with stories to tell, take all the great advice from the PITT editors and do this! Numbers count. Do it mindfully and carefully as if it matters. Share your stories beyond the safe havens like PITT. I get the cynical and bitter comments about the NYT. The best that will emerge is still probably going to enrage you. But if you do not show up in numbers, those advocating this "care" will certainly do so. Why would you let their voices be heard again and again, but not take a chance to have your voice heard?? Do it without hope, but knowing it is a step that MIGHT make a difference. Remember--PITT only exists so that one day it will no longer be needed. Do not make assumptions about how the change will eventually happen. Just show up and be part of the change.
The Times is all in on what they are calling "gender affirming care." Stupidly, because their reporters are incapable of self-awareness and reflection, they let the cat out of the bag at the get-go with that term. If the NYT provides a fair and balanced forum on this issue I'll eat my hat. I wouldn't even be surprised if this endeavor was some sort of feint, at attempt to gather information. Make no mistake: they despise parents and victims on the other side of the aisle.
Indeed. The sterilization and castration of dysphoric and autistic children -- a medical scandal and crime of the century, one to top the Tuskegee syphilis study compounded with "Dr." Mengele. Whole bunch of so-called doctors should lose their licenses if not be strung up by their nuts and left to twist in the wind -- figuratively speaking of course ...
But ICYMI, you might be interested in reading that the recent HHS study at least suggested some uncomfortable parallels between the Tuskegee study and that "gender-affirming care":
All the more reason why they need to hear from LOTS of those harmed by 'gender care' and from parents prevented from protecting their children from its profound harms. Even if the testimonies of individuals and families damaged by this scandal aren't ultimately selected for their coverage, the NYT will have been forced to see more of the reality.
It’s not about free speech, it’s about targeting the advocacy wisely.

I am sorry but I don't know how to send a voice memo by email. Can anyone let me know how they did it. Do I just send it to here:
http://genderstory@nytimes.com - do I need to be a member to sign into NYT?
thedaily@nytimes.com -email

Done, but I'm not naive enough to think that what I wrote will ever see the light of day.

I'm thankful for their reporting on Donald Trump. It's far more fair than you seem to think.

Oh, but was it really a hoax? (See: https://www.cato.org/commentary/no-russiagate-wasnt-hoax-team-trump-claims-it-was#)
As for the economic downturn, Trump's tariffs will help to see that through.
After checking internet, i find that NYT has done reporting regarded as “anti-trans”.
New York Times open letter protest anti-trans coverage.

Yes, you’re probably right. The NY Times should have phrased: “…gender mutilation” instead of “care”
