And now we're going to lose so much more because of this. It's absolutely crazy-making.

And now we have this bit of idiocy:

Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison says having males in girls’ sports ‘doesn’t harm anyone’

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2025/oct/8/keith-ellison-males-girls-sports-doesnt-harm-anyone/

WTF is wrong with these people??

And the Dems wonder why they keep losing. HELLO??!

Great post. Have restacked multiple times with excerpts.

Unfortunately, I think the hot stove phenomenon is relevant here: some people -- many, apparently -- need to touch the proverbial hot stove and get burned. That's the only way they'll ever learn.

As an example, to be blunt, "trans allies" and those they love -- their daughters, wives, sisters, mothers, friends -- need to be threatened by a man-faux-woman in a women's restroom, locker room, or other single-sex space before they get it through their heads what's at stake. Not my fault; theirs.

The activists have taken over the party. It’s that simple.

The ‘24 election wasn’t enough, they need another drubbing in the midterms to learn their lesson.

Follow the money too — hundreds of millions have been poured into LGBTQIA2S+ nonprofits and Democratic coffers from uber rich trans supporters like the Pritzker family. The Democrats owe them and do not want to stop the gravy train.

On this issue it absolutely does matter. Gender ideology is solely the project of the Left. As for the possibility that a critical mass of Democratic leaders will at some point in the future possess BOTH the intelligence and courage to admit reality and risk excommunication in doing so? I imagine anything is possible, but when I squint I see my senator, Tim Kaine. When it comes to Trans Toddlers, Kaine is on his own personal Jesuit mission, striding the Moral Arc of the Universe. The rest, the ones who aren't obvious fools like Kaine, are all pathetic cowards. Beyond that, I believe that gender ideology is simply too foundational to the greater Leftist project: the deconstruction of all social norms and the dissolution of traditional and natural relationships.

Un-silent's avatar

Yes it is foundational to the side they call the "left", but in fact, it is foundational to the whole group. There is only one agenda, a complete takeover, and both "sides" are in on it. One creates the problem and then the other, gives the solution. But in reality, they both have the same goal. Left/right is a divide and conquer mechanism, it keeps us from joining together against them.

“So how can the democratic party walk back their support of gender ideology?”

The answer is simple and straightforward. They cannot. It isn’t just celebs. In any left-wing political gathering or event larger than 10 people, there is a very very high chance that someone in the room has transed their kid. That person is more motivated to block change than the other 9 people are motivated to change. It’s existential for that one person.

The Joyce effect: No progress will be made if progress requires that parents admit that they failed their child. I was involved in left-wing politics. Generally speaking, the left has lost the ability to critically analyse our own ideas.

Thank you, That_guy. I still consider myself a liberal -- in the classic sense, the true sense, which too many on the left don't understand and have abandoned.

And I agree that, as you say, "generally speaking, the left has lost the ability to critically analyze our own ideas." The "trans" psychosis makes this abundantly clear.

I won't stop fighting, but I despair at the ILliberal ideas and actions of my supposed tribe.

Thank you so much. For those saying democrats and republicans are the same, they are ignoring that one is now a part of nazis destroying the US and environment, while the other is a mixture of many people but who want to keep health care, food stamps and basic survival issues continuing.

That is why I vote Democrat, though I am a Lesbian who has been fighting the trans cult from the very beginning, and in print in 1973.

We never agreed to have heterosexual men ("T" in "LGBTQIA etc.") made part of our community when they have been perving on us from the beginning. The trans cult is inherently Lesbian-hating and female-hating, and a lucrative form of conversion "therapy" aimed at eliminating Lesbians and Gay men.

I so hope the well-meaning Democrats will finally realize that this issue is why they lost and not confuse supporting Lesbians and Gay men with supporting our enemy, the trans cult.

Girl, same.

I was raised in the 1960s and 70s by women's libbers.

Why on earth would I suddenly throw my sisters under the bus now, just because the Democratic Party that women built--that *I* helped build--has unthinkably sold out to the conscienceless billionaires behind the gender-stereotype ideology cult? (Republican billionaire & past-Trumpster James Pritzker, I'm talking about you.)

Democrats and Republicans are just 2 wings of the same corrupt bird. My son actually called it the "cult of politics" in a song he created. The end is near. The majority of them need to go. They are compromised by big money and bad people who got them into bad/compromising positions and then blackmailed them to do what is absolutely evil (and treasonous in many instances). Hold onto your hats because this situation goes way deeper than we can most likely imagine, and it's all about to be exposed!

"It's all about to be exposed"? Really? How?

I agree that both political parties are beholden to big money, which has been the case for decades if not forever, but only one political party is in thrall to the psychosis of "trans".

The other political party thinks it's ok to try to overthrow the government. So we really are between a rock and a hard place.

Here’s where I want to repeat a really important point: call and write your Reps. If you want to make change, log off social media and email/call your elected reps and candidates. Especially if you live in a blue or purple district, even if you aren’t a registered Dem. They need to hear from you.

Nowadays, we all spend a lot of time on social media, including this site. But writing directly to politicians is still extremely important, more important than what we post here. Politicians absolutely do keep track of how opinions are trending among voters who bother to contact them directly. They know that those voters are paying attention, and are the most likely to vote, volunteer, and donate.

The author of this piece asks why so many Dem pols still support the most extreme TRA positions. It’s partly because orgs like the ACLU are closely tied to Dems, communicate with them and help raise funds for them. They have not heard as much from parents like us. That is starting to change, but it needs to change more. Politicians need to hear from us.

So take a minute to log off here, call or email your state and federal representatives and let them hear your voice. Don’t do it just once. Make a point to keep contacting them fairly regularly. Get your like-minded friends to do it. This is what starts to change politicians’ minds.

Eleanor, well said. I can tell you that I have written to all my reps -- federal, state, local -- repeatedly, about this issue, telling them that I won't vote for them any longer as long as they continue to support this "trans" insanity.

Some of them have written back boilerplate bullshit; others just ignored me.

I was going to sit out next year's election entirely, but now I've decided I'm going to write in votes instead: Kara Dansky, Genevieve Gluck, Julie Bindel, Kathleen Stock, Mia Hughes, Stella O'Malley, Abigail Shrier, Rex Landy, Meghan Murphy, etc. etc. -- all strong women who have been fighting against this pernicious ideology. That's going to be my protest vote.

I totally get the frustration. But keep writing to candidates/legislators. Tell them you are voting Republican and why. Donate as well to good candidates. If you know any friends, even one or two, who share your views, then organize and get them writing & donating too. Organization is key, and organizations often begin with just a few people.

And I’d suggest voting R instead of write-ins. Politicians don’t care abt write-ins because they know that is going nowhere. They do care if a real opposing candidate starts gaining some traction.

Also, don’t be discouraged if you just get auto-responses when you write. Most of these offices get thousands of emails and can’t respond personally to them. But they absolutely do tabulate and track the opinions expressed.

Last, I’ve worked and volunteered on campaigns and in legislative offices. I can tell you what really counts is organized, strategic opposition. Think in those terms. Everything we can do to organize and build up numbers of people who express our views to legislators moves the needle.

Agreed, except I won't vote for a Republican. Trump is assaulting the country, and the MAGA crowd is helping him do it.

Many years ago, like 45-50, we had in Maryland a liberal Republican candidate, Charles "Mac" Mathias, for whom I voted. But those days are long gone. The GOP has gone full MAGA.

Agree. I don’t like what Trump is doing either. Puts voters like us in a difficult situation. I wd still say tho, that continuing to write candidates/legislators and letting them know why they have lost yr vote matters. As does organizing with other people irl to push pols toward sane positions. One problem we have now is that the most organized and active pressure groups are the most extreme ones. We need pols to feel more pressure from sane moderates.

Just going to re-emphasize what I mentioned above. Strategically, I wdn’t recommend write-in voting. It’s satisfying in the moment, but politicians don’t care about it because they know it is never going anywhere. What they do care abt is voting and donations to real opponents. Having volunteered & worked for political campaigns, I’d say what matters is writing them and letting them know why they have lost your vote, and that you are voting for a real opponent who has a chance to beat them. Also, organization and working irl with other people matters. If possible, find and work with like-minded friends. Consider volunteering for candidates whose positions you like. You meet a lot of people that way who may share your views. Potentially you can organize with them for letter writing, donating, and other campaigns. Those are the things that push politicians to change.
