Positive outcomes are welcome too!! Thanks for sharing! It’s surprising that she didn’t cut ties with you two, you are lucky. I didn’t know Europe was big in transgenderism but true a lot of bad things in the States come from there.
There is a glimmer of hope on the horizon for us parents with not yet medicalized kids. There’s a current trend among the youth that you don’t need to medicalize to be trans. You don’t even need body dysphoria to be trans. In other words, they want the glamor of being in the cool group without all the bother and side effects of hormones.
So, if we can contain our eye rolls as Gen Z “discovers” being tomboys under a different name, maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Yes, thank you for sharing!! I do always wonder if there are less live-and-let-live people in my child’s work world, would she stop trying to present as a man (when she is clearly not). School and her generation seem to be whole hearted pronoun police, but what about the real world? The every day drudgery of just working??
We have just now reached the stage we’ve been dreading with our daughter. She turned 18 last year and has now just told us she’s been going to a private clinic and has stared testosterone. Dread everyday looking to see if I notice any changes in her. So far not but early days.
I just pray she doesn’t get on well with it and comes off it.
Breaks my heart.
So much of what you wrote is familiar. Thanks for sharing your experience
Thank you for sharing your real story. There's so much on social media that is pro trans and commentaries with parents that are very discouraging. The trans cult has consumed my time, life, and likely my future, almost as much as the pergatory my daughter chooses to live in still (over 3 years across the country and fully soaked in trans land Cali). I am very certain my daughter will wake up from this nightmare though when in drugged journey, I'm not sure. Her father heard once from her this year in a brief text that she thought of him.
Holding hopes and positive thoughts for your daughter as she comes away from the trans community, which appears to be great steps.
Thank you for the measured, level headed and realistic account of your daughter’s journey and yours as you navigate it all. Not an easy path I know but evidently quite common in our world today. The hope is that they will realize the consequences and turn toward wisdom, health and healing instead of the destruction that is being offered by medical, psychological & cultural industries. The choice is theirs.
What a relief for you! Hopefully, as she matures, she will come to accept reality. There was a boy at the high school where I taught who came out as a “woman” halfway through the school year. He received a LOT of attention. He was student council president and the local media went crazy over him. The school administration framed dozens of photos of newspaper articles and dedicated an entire hallway to him. He wore a wig and dresses for the rest of the school year and graduated that spring. A few years later he contacted some of his former teachers and admitted that he had desisted. He claimed that “it was just too difficult.” I don’t know whether he ever used hormones- this was back before hormones therapy was common. But he stopped, to my great relief. Other teachers were sad that he had to give up his authentic identity because of “ discrimination.” I like to believe that he just grew up and learned to accept reality, but had to save face somehow.
They dedicated a hallway to him?!? With that kind of praise and glowing affirmation, it's no wonder so many teenagers can't resist the temptation. How can people not see that elevating trans kids this way doesn't encourage authenticity at all? It encourages mimicry in an attempt to be seen. I'm so glad my grown(ish) kid is no longer in school.
Teachers were in a position of authority and influence and could have at least mitigated the harm children were doing, or considering doing, to themselves. Of course, as we've seen in so many cases, they were instrumental in promoting the harm.
My daughter got a studio flat and money from social workers just for accusing her family of bigotry. She hasn’t spoken to any of us for three years. I wonder if this narcissism is innate or completely environmental.
A majority of trans people seem to have at least a degree of narcissism. And the way their community elevates their trans identity to near mythical status, it must be very intoxicating.
Thank you for sharing this. It gives me hope and really, I have been losing hope. My daughter is 22 and started testosterone in February.
I keep reminding myself that today is not necessarily forever.

Yes, it is a part of the lie. They hope to look like slender boys but turn to be fatty and stout.

True, they must feel they’re demi gods
I also looked up SCD to understand. It is different than ASD in other criteria. https://psychcentral.com/disorders/social-pragmatic-communication-disorder
All the best to your family and hopefully, she will mature into an identity that does not include “trans”.
