This doesn’t come across like you wrote this with any concern or compassion for the girls. This comes across like a middle-aged Regina George writing in her online Burn Book. “So-and-so…is…an…oily-haired…little…ghoul…with…fugly…bacne.”

I did high school theater twenty years ago, and the thought of a castmate’s mother writing a piece scrutinizing my body and posting it online - anonymously or not - is just gross. There were other ways to write about this experience without sounded disgusted and contemptuous, and without sounding like you’re dehumanizing these girls.

Yeah, keep using homophobic slurs. See where that gets you. Do you want to actually change people's minds, or do you want to sit around and smirk with your self-ascribed moral superiority?

Again: there were ways for this author to write about this experience without sounded disgusted and contemptuous, and without sounding like she was dehumanizing these girls. They're not "ghouls." They're teenage girls who were essentially turned into medical experiments by adults who ought to know better. People write so many posts here about how their vulnerable, beloved teenage children were essentially brainwashed into a trans identity, so why is this author suddenly turning around and talking about them like they're these repulsive, subhuman creatures?

If you think this kind of rhetoric doesn't affect detransitioners and potential detransitioners, you're the one who's completely clueless and unable to actually comprehend what's going on. I lurk on the Detrans subreddit and I see it all the time - "I'm thinking about detransitioning, but I feel like I'm not feminine enough to be a girl anymore. I'd rather have people see me as a trans boy than as this ugly failure of a girl who was dumb enough to think she was trans." "I detransitioned a year ago, and I'm completely depressed because I don't think I'll ever find anyone who wants to date me."
