This was my comment:

Marc B. Garnick, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (https://www.dfhcc.harvard.edu/insider/member-detail/member/marc-b-garnick-md/) and *one of three academic principal clinical investigators of studies that led to the initial F.D.A. approval of Lupron* for the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer, wrote a letter to the New York Times (on Nov. 28, 2022, at https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/28/opinion/letters/puberty-blockers-transgender-youths.html), where he stated: "...having studied this class of drugs, which includes puberty blockers, for more than four decades...I can say that physicians are still learning and continue to be concerned about the safety of these agents in adults...Woefully little safety data are available for the likely more vulnerable younger population. Bone loss in adult men who have been on these agents is significant, and a leading cause of morbidity with long-term administration...Other safety issues include cognitive, metabolic and cardiovascular effects, still under intense investigation. The prudent and ethical use of such agents in the younger population should demand that every pubertal or pre-pubertal child be part of rigorous clinical research studies that evaluate both the short-term and longer-term effects of these agents to better define the true risks and benefits rather than relying on anecdotal information."

If the principal investigator of Lupron is so alarmed by the effects of the drug, what sense does it make to prescribe these drugs to young children in such a cavalier fashion?

(I included a scan of the letter that Dr. Garnick wrote)

Unfortunately, given recent decisions by the FDA, they will probably approve puberty blocking drugs for gender dysphoria.

I wish I had even a shred of faith or belief in the FDA or CDC or any of the agencies within HHS, but I don’t. This fight will be won be legislators, not by so-called public health agencies.

It's possible to leave comments for the FDA without fully supporting the WDI agenda. Note the petition has to do with "Action on Off-Label Use of Puberty Blockers"

I will pass on this. I cannot tell my cherished PITT brethren what to do here, but I beg you to take a deep breath, research and think before you sign this.

At a minimum, be sure you read the full lengthy declaration that this organization is promoting. You might see some things that are not consonant with your moral convictions. The main one is its promotion of and defense of lesbianism.

It is also exclusionary in that the declaration grossly overlooks the need to redress the grave injustices done against our boys. Don’t we need to protect them as well against hormone blockers and predatory practices? I sure believe that boys should be included in these endeavors. One of the recently posted agonizing stories here is mine.

You will also see that this declaration omits that CEDAW, and the UN in general, aggressively promote abortion, even for minors if they want it. Don’t believe me? Believe this declaration then:

https://www.ohchr.org/en/statements/2022/07/access-safe-and-legal-abortion-urgent-call-united-states-adhere-womens-rights

For those of you, who are “pro choice,” I cannot change your minds on the spot. But consider that we are fighting a death cult here. Can you say with a straight face that killing babies in the womb helps reverse this cult?

I also recommend that you research the dark side of the UN. I did a three year hitch working for NATO, where we had CEDAW shoved down our throats. This organization takes a few liberties interpreting CEDAW, and acts as if it respects and favors the biological sex of a person. That is not how CEDAW morphed. Its implementation materials state in no uncertain terms that “gender is (only) a social construct.” I can send these materials to anyone who asks me.

I know this post is lengthy – apologies. If you really want to sign this, please do so with your eyes wide open.

Yep! I read the whole declaration because it was linked with the FDA petition. I personally signed the declaration, understanding it was about women than just humans in general, but it is important to do due diligence before signing anything.

Do you realize the FDA has all the information it needs to remove Lupron and has had that information for at least 15 years? Do you know people who tried to get Lupron removed ended up going quiet? Yes, the dental sisters had a vault of evidence and it vanished. There’s a lot more to “puberty blockers” than your tiny perspective allows you to see. Can you stop using the euphemism because no one knows you’re talking about the powerful drug that tried to kill them. Yes, it’s powerful and it’s awful and doctors are unaware. I took it. No warnings. This is really very big and there’s a lot more going on. The FDA knows and doesn’t care. Lupron is the most versatile drug in AbbVie’s portfolio, it’s not giving that up easily. The FDA isn’t going to remove Lupron. That’s never happening until many young people start to have severely devastating effects. Sorry to burst your bubble. It’s never happening.

Lupron Victim Hub is where I got lots of info. My Substack has a lot of technical information about the harms of Lupron. It’s a horrible drug, it should have only ever been used for very advanced cancer patients.

My comment:

It is imperative that the FDA does not turn a blind eye to the potential harm that puberty blockers might cause to children. These medications have known risks and unproven benefits. Please fulfill your public health mission by commissioning a comprehensive analysis of existing studies concerning this use. In addition, please seek additional, long-term studies of this use. Make the public aware of the current state of evidence concerning this use and acknowledge that it is off-label. Provide manufacturers and healthcare providers with information that this use is unapproved and must not be promoted directly or indirectly. Understanding long-term risks and outcomes requires these actions. To prevent further harm to children, the FDA must promote public awareness that this use has not been shown to be safe or effective. Article 9 of the Declaration on Women's Sex-Based Rights reaffirms the importance of protecting children's rights. Children should not be used as test subjects for quasi-religious ideologies that are not supported by empirical evidence.

Comment Submitted: As a parent of a desisted (once "trans") child, I am thankful that our family extensively researched the off-label use of puberty blockers to discover the negative and debilitating side effects that so many detransitioners are now sadly dealing with after being misadvised by profit-driven doctors and the drug industry. With this information (from SEGM and other organizations), we thankfully chose not to affirm an alternate gender, not to medicate but to love and help her understand that what she thought about herself so ardently was part of a social contagion - an ideology that was encouraging her to reject womanhood. We were lucky in our research to have stumbled across a dissenting viewpoint that allowed us to save our daughter from physical harm. It was a long road (and expensive) and necessitated us to move states to protect her, however. It is time for the FDA to step in and do it's job, so that regular families and kids can have proper guidance from the get-go. "First Do No Harm"

This is a great idea but why not hormones too? They are off label for treating GD at any age?

They should both be reviewed?!

I'm in! Thank you!
