Gender Dysphoria is, in my opinion, a garbage category. And a dangerous one at that. Most people donтАЩt know the first thing about the DSM, its evolution, its purpose, what it is and isnтАЩt. And itтАЩs treated like itтАЩs some kind of gospel. ItтАЩs not. All it does is provide some common language and billable codes. It does not inform treatment or prognosis.
Thank you so much for posting that story link. The NYT doesn't cover this issue often but they do occasionally. When will the medical community finally realise the connections here: Highly intelligent - autistic/ADHD - sensitive - artsy - emotional dysregulation - depression - trauma - attention-seeking - Munchausen - Covid lockdowns - socially isolated - Tik Tok - trans/nonbinary???
Everything in this article applies so much - including the destructive use of drugs - antidepressants - that did nothing for the teenager's tiks but had negative side effects. He is still trying to get off of them.
The article left me wondering whether the reporter wants to close the loop but is stuck in this nonsense of calling the young man "they, and is generally unable to have an opinion regarding GI?
But, the doctors seem profoundly unable to close the loop. Aidan even says:
"тАЬAfter a year of therapy, I came to the conclusion that labels are stupid,тАЭ Aidan said. тАЬIтАЩm just out here.тАЭ" But, he and the doctors do not apply that to his gender label.
Yes - astounding and a dereliction of care. Maybe experts like the "nonbinary" neurologist Dr. Z Paige LтАЩErario actively don't want to see it. All these confused kids help troubled adults feel good about themselves.
I will write Gender Identity Disorder from now on - not that these teens suffer from it.
Interesting idea. Thank you, Loving Mother.
Magpie, what would you suggest we refer to it as, if I may ask, please? In case there's another term?

Oh, My, God. Thank you for that. They just have to connect the final dot... But, will they?
I hope so. It's astounding that they don't see it. A dereliction of care.

And the rest are afraid.
