Exactly. I don't understand the rush to medicalization which causes permanent physical changes. It's insane. I'm listening to "The End of Gender" by Dr Deborah Soh. I recommend it if you enjoy science and research based book's.

Thank you so much for your very thoughtful response. It very reassuring to know that people like my self are out there looking for the truth. I love what your psychologist told you. I'm going to remember that if the topic should come up. If you don't mind, I'd like to read the article that your psychologist wrote. I'm so tired of walking on eggshells around this topic with people when it comes up. We shouldn't be afraid to speak what we understand to be the truth with others. Even if it's uncomfortable for both people. Seems like an old fashioned conversation where two people can discuss a topic without hurt feelings or being canceled a thing of the past.

Agreed, we parents need each other for support. Your emotional experience describes mine. I also have a close friend whos 15 yo daughter is going through the same thing. Luckily she is in the same camp as us and doesnt buy into it. I'm sure theres a way to connect somehow.

I had a similar experience with my daughters pediatrician. We have Kaiser. I initially sent her an email explaining our situation and also included links to reputable unbiased studies and articles. She eventually gave me a call. I don't think she read any of my links. I'm in Southern California. My daughters pediatrician started to say that she should see the gender specialist and that she's helping a female patient right now who is transitioning. I told her teenagers do not have the capability of making these irreversible decisions. She interjected that "some do". I mentioned the social media influencers and the scripts that our children are reciting to us, and doctors and therapist. She admitted she doesn't know anything about what's going on in the online world because she doesn't have for that. I told her our kids believe detransition is rare, yet the number of brave individuals coming forward to tell their detransition Stories is growing every day. I asked her, how many women have to mutilate they're bodies with the encouragement from the medical community before someone takes notice of all those who regret it and are now dealing with the fall out and medical problems because of it. Her final words to me were that she should see a psychiatrist because her Kaiser LMFT therapist is not meant to deal with these issues. After that conversation I was left feeling even more hopeless. It was then I knew that I could not count on "professionals" to help my daughter, in fact they would most likely lead her early medical transition. I have to do the research and be the expert. Luckily I've found other parents like you in a few online communities with whom I can connect with to vent, share stories, support each other, and share tips and resources. I expected my daughters pediatrician to use scientific based information in dealing with these situations, to ask critical questions, but clearly science has gone out the window. I'm right there with you. I'm glad to hear that Oregon still requires parental consent for hormones and surgery. So does CA. But CA also just passed a bill making our state a sanctuary state for Transgender children, adults, and the professionals who provide services to them.
