Like other parents in similar circumstances (son announcing he's actually a girl) I admire your persistence in drawing the line at medical transition and your courage in allowing your son to cross the boundary of social transitioning that made you feel so uncomfortable. Each individual family is different, but I believe we all have to give our gender-confused kids a combination of tough love (line in the sand) and unconditional love (we will always love you no matter what). Compassion on the one hand, reality check on the other. An extremely precarious balance. My goodness, the times we live in!
