I am a therapist and completely agree with the anorexia treatment vs trans “affirmation” argument. What is being done to these kids is evil and should be criminal.

Serious question: has there been a downturn in the incidence of anorexia and other eating disorders? And if it has, has "trans" replaced eating disorders among teenage girls? Or are eating disorders as prevalent today as in the past?
Both are a way of controlling the body, a coping mechanism if you will, for the feeling of extreme discomfort with body and environment. I’m not a therapist, but have had close friends with eating disorders. They always ramp up the disordered behavior in times of stress :(
I am seeing fewer and fewer eating disorders. I had not considered a replacement theory but you may be on to something. It would be a great research topic, but no one would fund it...
My ROGD daughter had a childhood friend who I believe was anorexic. However, the therapist they found and the mother who adopted the girl both decided that "trans" explained her anorexia. The mother was actually glad the girl starved herself too much to grow much and would not need the double mastectomy.
Again, it's Sapir's point. I'm just the messenger here! But you provide some concrete evidence to back up the theory. This should be researched, and I think you could find funding. Maybe not from the NIH, but there are surely other sources.

Yes, we need to criminalize what is happening in the schools and in medicine.
