Rep. Nadler joined an Amicus Brief in the case of United States v. Skrmetti, where they wrote in support of performing procedures on children to attempt to appear as the opposite sex. I have written in support of HR 3887, but my hopes are not high.
Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about protecting transgender rights. I appreciate you taking the time to write to me about your thoughts. Serving as your representative in Congress is a tremendous privilege, and I deeply value your input.
I believe every American should receive the same degree of dignity and respect, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity.
State lawmakers have introduced nearly 500 bills attacking the rights of LGBTQ+ people in just the first half of 2024, and nearly 50 anti-trans bills have been introduced in the 118th Congress. This onslaught of anti-trans legislation and accompanying anti-trans rhetoric directly harms some of the most vulnerable people in our country.
Almost half of all transgender people in the United States will attempt suicide at least once in their life, and nearly 20% of trans youth attempted suicide in 2023. Furthermore, transgender people are over four times more likely than cisgender people to experience violent victimization, including rape, sexual assault and aggravated or simple assault.
Supporting transgender rights should be an issue of compassion and humanity, not a partisan one. That is why I was proud to host a roundtable in October of 2023, featuring conservative parents of transgender children, to gain insight about how we can work together to advocate for trans equality across the aisle.
We cannot keep waking up to news of more violence and discrimination against the transgender community. That is why I am unapologetically fighting to protect transgender rights. Until transgender people are guaranteed full equality in every aspect of life, I will not be quiet or stop fighting for their rights every single day. While we may not agree on every issue, I appreciate you expressing your concerns. I will be sure to keep your input in mind as I consider legislation coming across my desk.
Sadly, I am not surprised. Many of us witnessed her emotional speech during the Equality hearings--"my child is free to be who he is." Oops, pronoun trouble here.
I won't be voting for Harris or Trump.
As a lifelong Democrat, the party has left me behind.
"The proposed bill would eliminate all funding for the education and training for medical residents and fellows in children’s hospitals that provide 'gender affirming care.'"
Further politicizing this issue isn't the answer. Denying funding for medical care in children's hospitals would have widespread unintended consequences. Be careful what you wish for.
Look at who is running HHS, it's already hyper politicized. Levine wants "gender affirming" castration surgeries for prepubescent children, and lobbied the pervs at WPATH with their own castration fetishes to remove the ages from their latest recommended care.
This bill will go nowhere with the current administration, it's an attempt to get publicity for the atrocities.

Emailed my rep and got this expected response:

Holy crap! What about protecting women and girls??
Just an echo chamber for the trans lobbyist.

I agree with you, also a lifelong Democrat I can’t vote for either one and same dilemma for Senate
Thank you for sending out this Call to Action! I'll definitely call my Rep's office.

If this passes, it will only cripple our poor health care system even more. There are currently not enough doctors. There has to be a better way.
I called but sent an email since she was busy. I should have also mentioned having contacted them previously with zero response, typical?
Will do though my rep is a true blue Dem who will not listen. Getting the phone call might make her office uncomfortable at least.
I will also do this--even though my rep is in the progressive caucus.
When I contacted this office before, I received snort laughter from the queer-identified office staffer.
Done!! Thank you!!
