Have you submitted a FOIA request for any emails between these organizations and board members to come up with this policy? I'd be curious!

I emailed and called my daughters superintendent after a meeting with the school counselor and principle. I never heard back and that has been over a year! I pulled my daughter from the public school and she now attends a catholic private school that has a policy that states “each child will go by their legal name and natal sex.” They also offer counseling services for those that identify as transgender etc. I still have half the mind to show up at one the the board meetings to ask why she still hasn’t responded 🤡

One thing I never understand is the way they parrot this suicide stat.

How is it remotely possible that 10 years ago there were hardly any kids identifying as trans and now dozens per school who "might otherwise commit suicide"?

It doesn't add up, or there would have been many suicide attempts per school just a few years ago (and every year prior).

Way too much common sense there…the radical left doesn’t work in that realm.

No more quick Googles...use Yandex for better results (in my opinion)

Hi DR, can you tell me a bit more...sentence or two...with your Yandex experience in searches? I did not know it existed until now.

It pulls up search results that do not pull up on Google. I would describe Yandex as being less censored. Try searching Google and Yandex with the same term and see that the results are different. I used "transgender youth regret" and got different (some same) results. It's just one more place to look for info if you find yourself trapped in Google's echo chamber.

Keep fighting for your child and yourself. The goal is to buy time for maturation without having irreparable harm done to a young person.

I've tried to speak out at the school that my child attended here in another country. They are obviously toeing the party line. Do they ever question whether they might be part of a cult?

Re: technical issues for recording -

For a zoom call, connect on a laptop instead of your phone. Then you can use a separate program to record it on the PC... or you can use the phone to record the PC zoom session. EZPZ.

Check your state law first. In some states, recording a call without the consent of all parties is a crime.

Thanks for speaking up and fighting for our kids. We need more liberals speaking out against this insanity. I'm in the position of walking on eggshells trying to downplay the trans issue so that our son has an easy out if he changes his mind.

Applaud you for having this conversation. I fear retribution for my other 2 kids that go to our public school and have kept my mouth shut. It makes me cringe.

My 15 yr old ROGD girl has ‘identified as male’ for a year and uses male spaces. I wonder if this year in PE when the students shower after mandatory swimming will the school have any concerns when she disrobes with male bodies. Will they blink an eye when she shares a hotel room with male bodies on the band trip? Of course, this disturbs me as mother but the California school policies state that she can use whatever space aligns with her identity. I guess the other kids have no voice as well. My other girls at the public school have to accept male bodies in their locker rooms. I feel like short of taking her out of school I have no voice or power.

I guess I am in a lucky spot. I searched our school district policy. And it appears as if paperwork needs to be filed by both student AND parent to change name, pronouns, use chosen sex bathroom. He can still socially do whatever. But pretty sure this is way more work than he wants to do.

I would ask around because even if that is the written policy, the practice in the schools has been very lax, letting students self identify and choose. I hope you are lucky and the school is following it.

This is such a social contamination and trendy thing in my school, where I teach 9th grade English. I wish more parents fought back. Last year I had to hide information from the parents. I am in Florida, so with DeSantis' new law I should able to fight against it without fear of getting fired. I had a student last year that was hiding her transmale identity, than apparently came out to her parents. The mother referred to the student as her son and started using the new name. Later on in the year, I noticed that the student started taking testerone and was covered in dark, thick body hair. Over this summer, the student has detransitioned back to a girl.

This issue has caused a lot of anxiety and confusion in my own teenage daughter. I pulled her out of this school, and she is doing online homeschool. We also have a private, Christian therapist for her. So far, it is going better.

I am prepared to fight the school or even quit. It's ridiculous. This stuff doesn't belong in school or education. Treat everyone with respect but don't go behind the parents' backs or praise confusion.

I'm so glad to hear from a teacher who is not insane.

Since you teach English, what do you do about the horrors of the pronoun nonsense? I will NOT use the "singular they", which is a violation of several rules of English.

I try to avoid it. If they ask, I tell them that some writing sources have it acceptable, like the AP.

I believe you can use a screen recording app to record the conversation but there might be some legal issues regarding that.

Thank you for trying to provide a sensible approach to this issue. We have to challenge this idea that we are "right wing transphobes." Often times these folks don't have kids and don't understand the nuances of children the way thoughtful parents do. [editing to put quotes--because its the label they want to paint us with]

Why is it a problem to be a "right-wing trans-skeptic"? I am not a "transphobe", but am more than willing to admit to being a "trans-skeptic". And I switched from "Team Progressive" to "Team Sanity" in 2013.

It's not a problem but the activists and mainstream keep painting this as a right wing backlash when in fact a position that those in the middle and left also hold. Their fundraising hinges on that message that the trans-skeptics also hate women and people of color. They intentionally piggyback onto women's rights and civil rights because their position is actually so weak. That link can only be broken by people who are progressive on women's rights and civil rights. [I updated my post to hopefully reflect that]

This is great timing. I am meeting with our principal to begin planting seeds of doubt. Speaking with my legislator that claimed puberty blockers were 100% reversible. And cross sex hormones almost 100% reversible. I am going to blow minds here and get huge backlash, but the truth needs to come out. It is going to be a hard fight since we've set up a system of king and queen status for those so righteous in seeking inclusion in our state, our schools and given them very healthy salaries, too. We are fighting against years of doing this under our noses. An attack on parental rights in every way. Duped all of us liberals.
